A reinvention of Cinderella BUT WAIT DON'T GO! This one is neither a sappy thinly veiled retelling nor a smug cynical re-examination of the basic premise. It has three dimensional characters (like the step sisters - but it doesn't try to make them all gross and sympathetic and to-be-pitied, just makes them real people) and a fascinating world with amoral fairy godmothers and smoking hot royal huntresses. Lots of clever fairy tale conventions and folklore all twisted up in neat little ways.
