The GodFather Triology
So Godfather 1,2,3 are all on netflix streaming and I decided, after only seeing bits and pieces of all 3, that I'd sit down and watching them from beginning to end.
Godfather was out-fucking-standing with the youngest son Michael rising up to become the family's savior. Al Pacino as Michael was amazing, his transformation from the pure war hero son who wanted to strike out on his own with his beloved girlfriend Kay, swearing his family business would be legit someday to double murderer, flawed but insanely smart Godfather was ridiculously good.
Godfather II, I think, was the BEST of all 3. Michael's downward spiral in his personal life, almost without even noticing it, but his ascension to massive power was incredible. From hiding out in Sicily, marrying his never spoken about first wife Apollonia (who dies), to his eventual marriage to Kay whom he loses in the very end. You get the flash back of how Vito, the true Godfather (Marlon Brando) character suffers the deaths of his parents and older brother by the local Don at age 9, to when he comes to America and goes from a delivery boy to business owner to Godfather like in his 20's (played wonderfully by Robert DeNiro). You also get to see Michael's failed business arrangement during Cuba's revolt and Castro's rise - a little weird in the middle of the movie, but you get a lot of intrigue as well as family betrayal which, again, ends the movie with A LOT of blood shed. This sequel was ridiculous it was so good.
Godfather III - jesus fucking christ, why'd they even make this movie? It is the weakest and the worst of the trilogy. I got halfway through and couldn't suffer Sophia Coppola's horrible acting and stupid storyline of Michael trying to go legit while basically dying. The new world order Mafia comes in and forces him back in just when he thought he was out. Turns out the Vatican is the bad guy in this movie. Thank god Mary (Sophia) dies at the ending. You see poor Michael in Sicily an old man. The End.
O_o
The third one sucked balls. 1 & 2 were amazing.
