Making my own custom character questions....
I don't know if this is in the right spot (sorry if it's not!) but I am testing the waters and thinking about becoming a vendor. I was wondering if anyone could give me a little guidance and possibly test the character out when I finish her...
I used Zbrush for the head morph and V4 body and ++ morphs for the body. I also used LM's Perfect Resource Kit for V4 as a jumping off point for the textures. I've been following a few tutorials to figure out how to make and pack the files correctly, but still have a couple questions.
If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them!
Thanks in advance!

Oh if you need a tester, I'd be happy to do it for you!

I've wanted to try this out, but it is very intimidating to me so instead I just mess with other peoples skins and textures, because when I look at that grid mesh thingy I freak out! lol So, I wish you the best of luck!!!
If you need a tester, I happily volunteer.
I never figured out how to make the thighs : /

I am just about ready to package her up! Wow, I never noticed how time-consuming making custom characters can be! As soon as I get her ready I'll ship her off to you guys... hopefully there won't be any problems!!
I used the ++ morphs for the body instead of using Zbrush, but the head was all done in Zbrush. I'm taking baby steps lol. Doing a full-body is kind of intimidating. Also I used a couple resource packs for the textures which was nice, but I'd like to get the point where I can do it myself from scratch. This girly is kind of testing the waters for me, so we will see how it goes.

I think most vendors, Vex at least, doesn't really do a completely customized body morph. Easier to keep it closer to the v4 default morph so it can fit clothes easily. Maybe reshape her boobies, fitness her body out, that type of thing.
Oh I have poser8 and Daz3d, but I am primarily daz now =)

yeah, one of my biggest problems is that I dial them so much, trying to make each person unique, and fitting to who they are, that if I were to make one to sell, it'd be all... weird. Clothes don't fit my girls very often lol I have to fix them so much, it's annoying at times.
Looking forward to it!

I haven't installed Zbrush yet and I've had it for a year >.<

@Roz - Yea, that's what I did. I just used the dials to change her up a bit to something I prefer. She's still close. I'm about to put some clothes on her, so hopefully it won't take too much adjusting!
@Kilandra - I know what you mean! There are so many character morphs out there, that you'd like to have very unique ones, but it wouldn't be very practical. I know when I have to sit and take 3 hours just to adjust the clothes I get pretty turned off and end up just using the basic v4 body morph lol.
@Jet - OMG Zbrush is AMAZING! The interface takes a bit to get used too, but it is probably one of the coolest programs I've ever used! So many possibilities!

Nice thing about Daz3D is the morph follower though, but then that only annoys the poser peeps =x

After messing with it all day and trying to figure out how to make the .pz2 files - and screwing it all up! - I changed them back to material files, so for now they only work in Poser. (Sorry Roz!) Also, for some reason I can't get the actual head morph saved right and I scrapped the body altogether. This is making me crazy!
If anyone knows what I did wrong please let me know! I've sent you guys a note with the link to download the runtime so far... let me know what you find and I'll mess with it some more tomorrow most likely.

Do you have InjectionMagic or InjectionPoseBuilder?

I don't, I just looked at Injection Magic and it's on sale! It does say that it might not work right with Windows Vista... has anyone tested this? And can it be used in Poser or is it just Daz?

Well I went ahead and bought Injection Magic since it was only $5, but I cannot figure out how to use it so I searched for tutorials online and I just keep getting broken links. :\
This is very frustrating! lol.

they dont run in poser or daz, its standalone Win only.
for mat file creation I would look at netherworks store. He has a lot of creator tools for using inside poser ( NOT daz )
DAZ mats are made inside daz's own interface and doesn't need a separate tool.
also, your main source of help will be rendo forums or daz forums. don't google. just use their forum search tools. Its a tedious PITA task to find, but the info for how to make character packs is all there.

btw I made this tutorial awhile ago, just remembered !!

Oh yes, if you buy IPB ( i seriously suggest it ) be sure you install the V4 libraries. I have some on the attached link, but DAZ has finally updated the IPD download with V4/M4 definitions.

Question about your tut - what is empty.pz2 or how to get/make it? lol. I guess I'm not following and I think I'm overly confusing myself. ><
