AWESOME PHOTO. I know you remember the pain, but that photo is gold. I didn't even notice the sneakers and a lot of kids wear sneakers with their outfits anyway so it looks completely normal either way. I love how her bangs are hanging over her head bandages!

It was such a pita! I neglected to think about shoes so she was just wearing her comfy sneakers. But all of those strips were cloth torn into strips by hand, and then I think I safety-pinned each strip together til I had about three good sized rolls. Getting it on her and keeping it in place was just ugh! If I was doing it again, I'd probably find a way to actually attach the strips to a shirt and pants that she could put on instead of putting it all on her directly over the shirt/pants. Should have painted her face, too, but she's picky about that stuff LoL Lil hussy won't let me paint her face green this year either! *pouts*

Because I'm in a Halloween mood and totally procrastinating on cleaning my carpets for the upcoming in-laws visit. (Also got a notice from the rental company that I need to clear out my weeds by mid-October. Grr.)
2007 -- I went as a crazy cat lady and said that my cats were my babies, heh. My mom showed up as a cat on her own. Neither one of us told the other what we were wearing so we had a very good laugh when we saw each other. So this is one of my favorite Halloween photos. The black cat onesie was from BabiesRUs or something off the rack.
2008 -- This one was my sister's idea. The boys were born 4 months apart and James' hair was so blonde and thin that he looked bald for a really long time while her son had a full head of shaggy brown hair. My sister joked that they should go as Lex Luthor and Superman so that's how it came to be! (I just ordered a generic toddler suit from ebay and asked my dad to embroider "Luthor" on the jacket so I wouldn't have to constantly explain who he was supposed to be.)
2009 -- Max from "Where the Wild Things Are." We picked out this costume way before we found out that the movie of the book was also coming out so it was good timing! It was a pain to make. I had to go to three stores to find the fake fur. I didn't want to make the 40 minute drive back so I bought way more fur than I needed. I joke to my family every year telling them if they ever want to be a werewolf or something, I have plenty of fur in stock. Glad I made the costume, but it did suck putting it together. (I made it too big again, too. Had to cut the sides off.)
2010 -- He was on a big Toy Story phase and liked Woody the best. When we found Woody at California Adventure, I was so freaking excited to get a photo of them together. THIS MADE MY WHOLE YEAR. I bought a white polo shirt and dyed it yellow. Then I took a red fabric pen marker thingee and drew the lines on the shirt. I bought the cow pattern from the fabric store and just cut it out in the shape of a vest. I actually just hot-glued it together since I didn't want to borrow the sewing machine again. The shiny gold star and belt buckle was just foam with gold glitter. I cut the shapes out and hot glued it onto the fabric. I decided to pay for the Toy Story boots (got them off ebay) and the hat (from Disneyland on one of our trips) because I felt that he would wear them often enough to justify the cost. And he loved those boots and wore that hat everywhere so it was definitely a good investment. It was while putting this costume together that I realized that Woody never actually had a gun. Like all classic toys, it was "lost" early on and Woody just uses his fingers to pretend-shoot. Disneyland does not sell Woody guns either. Buzz Lightyear lasers, sure. (Plus there's a toy gun law in California, which I'm sure has an impact on this, too. Toy guns must have an orange cap on end of barrel to clearly mark it as fake.)

DANG! All those costumes are great, you guys do great jobs with them! Was David old enough to say " 2 seconds" constantly to people like Shaun did?

David had no clue who he was LOL. Admittedly it was more for me than him - it was SO CUTE. I kept telling him, 'David - you have red on you.' hehe

flapper girl is too sexy for ME lol so I'm modifying it a bit, and adding sleeves and making it longer by a bit. I just grew up much too modest to do the full fledged thing lol. . All your kids costumes just keep reminding me of what my mom did for the three of us (she had 3 under 3, all girls!) each Halloween. Every year she would make each of our costumes from scratch, always with a theme of some sort.. the funny part? Never once in my life have I gone trick-or-treating! lol We always delivered treats to our relatives and older people from church who were shut in. She still has some of her costumes which are now being used for her grandsons.

Last year was my first attempt at homemade but i still cheated and had my best friend sew it for me. I cut the pattern out and by I i definately mean my husband did it because i messed it up. But as you can see its huge too. I left it big though so he could wear all the warm clothes under it

@Dia -- LOVE the jester hat! The costume looks great! And my mom helped me with the costumes, too. I cannot figure out the codes on the back of sewing pattern packages so she helps out with telling me how many yards of such I need to get and she figures out how to pin the fabric together so the lining would work right. She has me do all the actual sewing on the machine because she wants me to honestly say that I made it. I wouldn't be able to do it without her help so I definitely owe her a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks.
I just found out that the Witches Luncheon we're going to is serious business. I thought oh, a cute tea party at someone's house. Nope, it's at a restaurant with at least 100 other women and they give out prizes for best-themed witch costumes and stuff. I told my mom, "OH IT'S GAME ON." Now my mom's all excited and says she has dibs on the sewing machine first. LOL. =D

You know, I have never actually seen Nightmare on Elm Street. Freddy Krueger is just too nasty to look at for two hours straight.
