I read this for a book club ages ago. There were some things I liked and some things I didn't care for. I am not a big fan of reading first person, present tense, especially when the main point of view is one I don't really relate to. Also I am a sensitive soul and there is some animal cruelty that was upsetting to me. It also bothered me that I figured out the twist, because the book relies on the twist surprising readers, I think, to make it entertaining and not too dry.
It was, however, well researched and interesting/educational, and made for a pretty good discussion.
Water for Elephants? Anyone read?
I've borrowed the book from my mother who said it was crap but another lady at work says it was fantastic. Anyone have an opinion on this book?
