Brandon Sanderson in general

I put The Way of Kings in it's own link, but this guy deserves more than that. Not only is he doing a fantastic job of finishing the Wheel of Time series, but he's writing other books at a great pace, and they're great. I've only read book 1 of the Mistborn trilogy, but's great. Magic is again unique. You swallow certain metals for an effect, of which there is a corresponding alloy of opposite effect. The first book promises much more to come during the trilogy, and I've been told the trilogy just gets better.

Warbreakers is another stand alone that is fantastic. I should have written this two years ago when I read these two, but it's only have the last few that I'm realizing just how good Sanderson is. In this one magic is tied to color in another unique system. Another must read.

I'm liking what he's doing with Wheel of Time, apart from a few plot turns that make me wonder if that's how it was originally intended, or his own invention (e.g.; Mat's prophesied "give up half the light of the world to save the world"; I had imagined something TOTALLY different). I actually think I prefer the books he's written over the ones Robert Jordan wrote, but it may just be because the story is finally coming to a close and big things are happening. Hard to say... guess I will have to check out some of his other work.
