RP forums - thoughts?
I know a few of us have had experience (not including myself in that actually) but I was wondering if there would be interest in doing something like this. Not necessarily here on TAC, but on a sister forum? Also experiences and ideas would be appreciated =)

I have plenty of interest in RPing. So I'd be up for it. I'm an admin for an RP site now and was a mod for a very large one not too long ago, so let me know if you need any help. :)

I've played RPG for years but I dont know. I don't get into the RP part as much as most - my group is more HnS and numbers like EQ or something although we do roleplay I guess.
It's not something I get into alot with people that don't do it because its super dorky :D

Trying to rp while in EQ is difficult at best because you've got to be paying attention to what you're fighting and have a receptive group. Most people look at you funny when you try to roleplay in an online game. So I rarely RP there, if that's what you're referring to.
Online board gaming seemed a bit strange to me at first but once I got used to it I really enjoy it. Its not generally as fast as table top gaming but if you've got active people its a fun distraction, get up reply to threads, go to work, come home, reply to threads again.
Its more in depth in a way than table top because you see the thoughts as well as the actions of the characters.
In table top, the GM asks "What are you doing?"
Ranya is waiting behind the tree for any available targets to get within sight.
On a thread version it could look something like this.
Ranya leaned against the tree while he strung up his bow. He could hear the sounds of the approaching creatures. Yes, creatures, the familiar snorts and huffs could only be made by a band of orcs.
Once his bow was strung he leaned out around the tree and waited for a target of opportunity, these might not be the same orcs that took down Viacia but they'd pay for her death anyway.
I can get carried away. Its like writing a story but with feedback from someone else, and the someone(s) can take the thread somewhere you didn't think to go. Its a pleasant surprise sometimes.

Let me add - we have lots of flavor and description, we just are more analytical minded with tactics and char then artistic and alot of dialogue.

We're throwing around the idea of doing an Underworld inspired world. We're not wanting to go as indepth as some RP boards go - ie Harry Potter schools, but just somewhere the writers can write and do it within a specific world.
