XMEN THE MAFIA - Day 2 : The road less traveled

When Sabretooth finished talking Redd looked around at the rag tag and tired bunch of them. When she'd jumped in with them during the break out she'd had no idea they would come to this, fighting amongst themselves and surrounded by such an air of death and depression. "It's worse than in the damn camps.. well, almost anyways"

She remained sitting there on a pile of crates and broken pews as the first ones straggled out the door after Sabretooth. "Funny how being close to that sociopath actually seems safer than being in here amongst ourselves." She gave a soft chuckle to herself. She was very familiar with the stories of Sabretooth, her Dad had hacked his file many times to show her how the government could twist someone if they chose to. She thought it was just he was a nut, but maybe her Dad was right and someone made him into that. Who really cared at this point.

A few things were obvious. Staying here was certain suicide. Traveling in a pack of mutants in broad daylight with Sentinels hunting them was suicide. Trying to go it on her own in a town she didn't know was suicide. "So I die today no matter what.. joy." She needed friends, allies.. and that was something she certainly wasn't good at finding. She glanced down at the forgotten list half under a broken pew. Maybe making a few people happy would get her some allies.

With a tired but determined sigh she jumped down and picked up the list. Best not to let them all be too far ahead of her so she couldn't follow the tracks.

Stepping outside into the bright day, Redd squinted and frowned. "Damn glare.." she muttered. With a moment's concentration she slid on a pair of sleek simple wrap around sunglasses. "Man I love being a mutant sometimes heh" Spying Tox about to leave she flagged her over. "Hey.. I;m going to grab this stuff for everyone. What did you want the ball bearings for? That might be a little hard to find at a convenience store.."

The giant of a man and his petite companion turned and stormed out, people trickled behind them and others stay sitting where they were. A bit shy and nervous like Birdie looked around at the remaining people, looking for a sign of what to do.

The girl from the earlier argument with the boy who delivered the pizza's back to them came forward and picked up the list off the ground. She turned and spoke to the other girl in the red coat. Hearing the conversation about going for supplies, Birdie stood up and walked timidly over to them.

"Hi, you are going for the supplies on the list? Mind if i come? Maybe i can lend a hand." she really didnt want to be left there alone and she wasnt all too excited about following the behemouth of a man.

She glanced back at the snow outside and shivered. That coat would be a nice commodity.

Frowing for a moment while she considered the best way to explain her need for ammo, Tox suddenly lit up with a huge grin. She reached down and grabbed a respectable amount of snow, using her hands to pack it into a tight, compact ball, which she threw hard into a nearby tree. A dozen black birds flew out, cawing indigantly at the intrusion, and Tox smiled merrily. Turning back to face the two women, she again stuck out her tongue and rolled it, nodding her head all the while.

Tox turned to Hummingbird, considering. Given Redd's ability to go invisible, it made sense to let her go on her own, but Tox felt uncomfortable with letting anyone go off by themselves. Nodding in decision, she pointed to a nearby dumpster that would be perfect to hide behind and keep watch, and looked back at the two women.

Redd hadn't acknowledged the shy girl when she watched Tox throw her snowball.. after which she whistled softly "Damn, if I was a lesbian I'd be all over you," she grinned hugely. "So umm.. hmm.. oh!" She cupped her hands together one over the other for a second and then lifted the top one to reveal a hand full of red energy bullets. "I figure if my daggers can slide through kevlar these puppies should put armor piercing bullets to shame. As long as you don't need the gunpowder part." She offered her hand out to Tox and finally turned to the girl who was shifting uncomfortably at being ignored. "You're.. who again?" She eyed her up and down and then glanced at the dumpster. "Stick with Tox here and help her keep an eye out, I'll be just a minute" With a last glance towards where Sabretooth's pack had gone and then around she took a deep breath and dissapeared, to make her way across the street.

/OOC JIK anyone was wondering what I meant about the knives and bullets being armor piercing, I was thinking along them same line as a teflon coated bullet is able to pierce through kevlar because it's slick enough to slide in between the threads.

Tox beamed happily at the handful of bullets in her hand and practically skipped to the dumpster. Had Redd not disappeared suddenly Tox would have been tempted to pick the small woman up in a rib cracking hug, such was her delight with her new toys. The red ammo was lightweight, like her new jacket, but they felt substantial enough. They were small enough to stuff several into her cheeks, and she grinned at the mental image of the great Tox, dishing out justice with hamster-like cheeks, spraying bullets out of her mouth like a human machine gun. As they arrived at the back of the dumpster, Tox looked around guardedly and slipped all but four of the bullets into her pocket. Hopefully her plan to finish off the weapon would work out, as getting the bullets out of her pockets might be a pain.

She moved across the open street without leaving a trace, across the mounds of dirty snow piled up against the side of the building and straight through the wall. Inside it was a dingy, dirty and dark place since most of the light that would be coming through the windows was obscured by the layer of grime covering them and the massive grates and bars the owners had installed to stop thieves. That made Redd grin. "Ain't no keeping me out buddy," she though to herself.

Up at the counter, with a massive shotgun cradled in his lap and feet propped up on the counter, the portly shop keeper half dozed as he watched the newscast's latest anti mutant special. Redd watched in disgust as he wiped some drool off his chin and smeared it onto his pants leg, looking around smacking his lips before settling his head back on his chest, into the cradle of his many chins.

She felt no guilt robbing from this pathetic scum of a human. As she walked around the store she'd glance over at him and around to make certain no one was watching then grab this or that, phasing it over and shifting it to her then dropping it into a large red sack she'd made.

Redd couldn't resist as she walked up to the counter and softly moved a few things around, then leaned through him to grab the locked cash box he had set on the floor behind him. She carefully moved her hand through without breaking the lock, emptying it of all its contents before she placed it back where she'd gotten it.

Then she strolled out through the front door and back around to where the 2 girls were waiting.

"You two ready to get the hell out of here?" she asked from behind them.

Having no desire to forge out on my own, I stuck with Redd and Tox and the group with Sabretooth. I watched with a sinking feeling as some mutants came and left, certain somehow that I would never see some of them again.

I was still trying to find my feet in this mess; to discover what role, if any, I could play and how to best lend a hand. This was so far out of my realm of experience that for now I just allowed myself to be swept along.

Redd grinned as the two seemed a little relieved to see her and to be moving towards the main group. As they hurried along following the tracks from Sabretooth and those with him, she noticed how tracks would fade away or join up but dismissed it as people wandering off to loot or take a leak. As long as no one was ignorant enough to come running back with a Sentinel on their ass it was all good.

As they walked she dug around in the large red bag she was dragging along with her until she pulled out a package of Big Red gum and tore into it, shoving about 3 sticks in at once. "mmmmthishisthgooodth!" She said through it. Her face showed her obvious delight as the spicy cinnamon gum's flavor hit her. Chomping happily she rummaged again and pulled out another brand of gum in one of those mega packs and handed it to Tox.

"D'ya wanth somphthingh?" she asked looking over at the quiet one. "Got candy, sodas" she stopped to loudly swallow and chew a second "There's some jerky and stuff too.. I also grabbed some de-stinkerant, soap, and stuff too."

She was a little relieved, even if she wouldn't admit it, when they got within sight of the main group moving along.

"This sucks" Tinct thought to himself as he traveled along with the group. "Everyone is worried about the Sentinels. Everyone is worried about everyone else. Everyone is worried about survival. This kind of joyless life isn't a life worth living." Of course he was concerned about his survival too. He was traveling camoflauged with the group, not that it would really matter if they were attacked. "Time to have some fun". Summoning his power, Tinct looked at Sabertooth. The back of the giant mutants clothing began to disappear revealing the flesh beneath. A broad black line appeared on his back. "K-I-C-K M-E. This should be good". Looking around to see if anyone noticed his prank, he saw a group of girls a ways behind the main group. Looking into a window to see himself, Tinct made his skin transparent, followed by his muscle, and bone and then snuck back. He saw a girl, appropriately called Redd, and that Tox girl, and another one whose name he didn't know. He crept up behind them and gathered some snow into a ball. Chuckling to himself, he used his power and let the orb fly, while reappearing. It hit Tox square in the back of the head and exploded. "Didn't your mama ever teach you not to touch yellow snow Tox?". He looked at the girl next to her. "You know Redd, there are other colors of the rainbow. There ya go. Neon green suits you.". With that, Tinct burst into a run back to the main group hoping that he could erase Sabertooths' new body art before the psycho noticed. "I know they'll pay me back." And he couldn't wait.

Redd had just started to snicker at Tox's yellow snow covered, indignant looking glare when she heard someone say she'd look better in.. no way.. she looked down and sure enough her clothes had turned green. She blinked a couple times, stunned. And it hit her in the gut, hard. This was almost the exact same shade her twin Jade makes with her energy. And she hadn't seen Jade in.... She blinked back tears, gritting her teeth. The bastard wanted to play then by god she was going to get his ass, good.

She shoved the bag of supplies she'd been dragging at the shy girl and dissapeared. Tinct had no chance.. He was scurrying along trying to catch up when Redd came up behind him at a dead run.. grabbed the waist band of his pants and prepared to shove him right out of them as she phased them...

Tox gasped as the freezing cold wet snow went down the back of her shirt. Sparing a quick glance at Redd, who now looked like Christmas gone wrong and come early, she turned back to the direction the assault had come from. Grinning at the tracks in the snow, she broke out into a run, her head down low like a charging bull.

Oh, someone was going to get it...aaaaaaack!

An unexpected patch of ice under the snow sent Tox sliding and skidding out of control toward the group. She slammed awkwardly into another form and fell back on her rear end, dazed. And shared shitless on top of that, for when she looked up sheepishly at the one she had collided into, there was a pair of cold angry eyes staring back. Sabretooth.

Fantastic.

The two stared at each other for an endless moment before Sabretooth turned around and continued walking. Tox felt sure the little girl on his shoulders had given her a rather nasty look, but that was soon forgotten when Tox saw what was written on the huge mutant's back.

Oh we are -so- going to get it now. Even as horrified as she was, Tox couldn't help but let out a little snicker as she stood up and brushed herself off.

The snow crunched underfoot and he dreged along by himself in the near blizzard, he had seen the map and didnt need the company of others just to walk across a few blocks..
after exitin the church he had focused and shifted his armor to mixture of whites and light gray to better concel his passing in the snow.. a quickly formed pair of snow shoes had helped as well... he was making good time.

After his confrontation with Razor at the church, Marcus decided that it would probably be best for him to travel separately from the other mutants. As he pawed through the snow he kept thinking about what Razor had said. Why had he always been considered a mutant by non-mutants, and a non-mutant by mutants, he even felt a certain level of animosity from his students at the institute. He wondered if the other non-mutants on the x-men team ever got treated this way, certainly Juggernaut never did. It was too bad about the confrontation with Razor; he had really wanted to ask him what he knew about adamantium.

Birdie blushed remembering how she had stuttered and stammered when the the girl named Redd had asked her name.

"Mmy nanames Bir, The Humming Bird, but you can call me Birdie." she had finally mustered out looking away.

She had stood watch for them and they for the most part paid no attention to her, but that was ok, she had some company even if they only partially noticed her. The silent one seemed easily amused by minor things and Redd was amused by most anything that seemed to be abnoxious. The odd bunch they were Birdie still felt at ease with them.

As Redd was offering the bag loaded with candy for her to choose out of nowhere a snowball slammed into Tox's face. It was yellow in color and it made her face very angry. Redd started to laugh but then was wearing a whole new color of clothes and it seemed to wipe the smile off her face before it started. A boy, appeared out of nowhere laughing at them and took off. Birdie pulled her new coat around her tighter and ducked her head down trying not to be noticed. She watched both Redd and Tox go after the boy.

Frowning and wondering to herself about how anyone could find it play time, Birdie muttered.

"We're going to get in trouble this way." Her voice clear and resounding. It was said low enough that anyone who wasnt within two feet of her shouldnt been able to hear. But the vibrations she created with her voice box sent the message farther, far enough to reach both the girls and now the behemoth
Sabertooth, who had turn to attention at the sound of the horseplay.

As the group made their way down the abandoned roadway, they watched with a mix of fear and anxiety as Sabertooth stopped, kneeling down so Quinn to get off his shoulders. She took up a defensive position behind him, and as the rest of the group came up on his location, Sabertooth signaled that they should gather close. He lifted his head to sniff the air as though searching for some unseen threat.

When it happened, it was almost too fast for anyone to register what was going on. Sabertooth’s clawed hand shot out and lifted Tinct a good two feet off the ground by his shirt. He held him there, arm outstretched, as he rose up to his full height. Quinn peaked her head from around Sabertooth’s legs, smiling up at the hapless mutant as he struggled in vain to break free. Sabertooth let out a low, bestial snarl.

“If you want to die out here, we can arrange it,” Quinn said. Tinct winced in pain as Sabertooth’s nails dug deep into his chest. “The lettering. You’re going to remove it, or you’ll be bathing in your own entrails.”

Quinn let out a giggle as Sabertooth effortlessly tossed the prankster into the snow. She turned and stuck her black tongue out at him as the two started off into the snow, hand in hand.

Vajina walked along behind the two females watching the sway of their butts and enjoying the feel of his overly tight costume as it supported and lifted his privates. With a subtle twist of his hips, he could even magnify the feeling. Besides, it helped him not think about the cold, the gloom, and the lack of privacy these days.

He sighed heavily as he swiveled his hips again, trying for maximum comfort and response from his costume...

It was gonna be one of those lives.

The hair on the back of Tox's neck stood on end as the large woman spun around sharply. Seeing nothing behind her, she frowned, and shivered.

Ghost musta walked over my grave. Or is that goose? No matter. It was nothing.

I did my best to look serious and unamused by my companions' antics, but I couldn't resist a soundless chuckle when the words "Kick Me" appeared on Sabretooth's back.

It was all I could do not to join in the fun, but I had a feeling we'd all need to save our energy, so I just flashed the one who'd written the words a quick grin and ducked my head into the cold wind, continuing on.
