SW Mafia - Awakening * RP * READ ME *

Light slowly filled Daynn Tavira's world, as he awoke to find himself alone in a cold and sterile medical room. His inuries were almost completely healed, although a soreness remained to permeate through his entire body. The doctors has apparantly taken him off the painkillers, and the pain that replaced the numbness must have been what awoken him.

He sat up in his bed, and turned to look in the large mirror mounted on the wall. He had a new scar across his cheek that he would probably carry with him for the rest of his life, although he was not very optimistic on how long that would be. He was also wearing nothing except a flimsy paper robe. He got out of bed and called out for a medic, but no one came. They must be busy elsewhere, which was probably not a good sign.

He looked around the room for a few moments, finding nothing but standard medical supplies and instruments. Then, finally, he noticed a small footlocker at the foot of his bed. It was unlocked, and inside he found a fresh change of clothes that someone had thoughfully retrieved for him from his room. As he took them out and began dressing, he found that there was more in the container. At the bottom, underneath, all his clothes, he found the lightsaber that he had been given by Kashaal, when the Togorian was trying to prove his innocence. Daynn reached down and picked up the weapon, and was surprised to find that it felt familiar in his grasp, although he had never held one before. He turned it on, and a long, thin blade of blue light manifested.

Daynn held the saber at arm's length, perpendicular to the ground, and stared into the blade. He focused on it, captivated by the seemingly magic light, and the slow, quiet hum that always accompanied these weapons. As he stared, his mind began to wander, exploring the events of the recent past. Daynn started to remember bits and pieces of what had happened to him.

He remembered washing up in a fresher, and he remembered needing a shave. He remembered walking back, but getting lost. He remembered turning right when he should have turned left, and he remembereed getting lost in even darker and more forboding part of the station.

Then he remembered coming across another.

He remembered smiling at them once he recognized them.

Why? Why had he smiled? He had been afraid, so why would he smile?

He tried. He stared even deeper into the humming blade of the lightsaber, lost in the blue brilliance. He FOCUSED inward, desperate to remember why he had smiled at his attacker.

He remembered

Filled with purpose, he silently turned off the lightsaber and pushed it up his sleeve, where he slipped it into a compartment that he had had sewn into most of his clothes for the purpose of helping him cheat at cards. It was specially designed to conceal the bulk and shape of objects placed inside: no one would ever know it was there until he drew it.

He strode silently from the room.

A few short minutes later, he arrived at a door, but it was not his own. He quietly knocked, and a few moments later, was answered by a soft, feminine voice from within:

"Who is it?"

"It's Daynn," he replied. There was a very long pause, and Daynn heard some quiet shuffling coming from inside. Then, the door slid open to reveal the room's occupant. She was a beautiful, red, Twi'lek woman, and she was barely dressed. Had that been what she was doing while he waited for the door to open? And had she been putting clothes on, or taking them off? Daynn did not know, and at this point, he did not care.

He took one very large step through the doorway and into the room, and found himself standing very close to her. She stood silently wth a neutral expression on her face, arms crossed in front of her, merely looking at him, as if waiting for him to announce his purpose.

"I wanted to thank you for coming to visit me, and for looking after me."

No response. Daynn drew in a deep breath and held it for a moment, as if trying to find the perfect wording for what he was about to say.

"I also... have a confession I want to make to you."

This seemed to interest her, as her stance and expression softened. Daynn even though he might have caught the faint traces of a smile across her lips.

Seeing that as his signal, he took another small step towards her, and they were now so close that he could feel the heat radiating off of her body. Moving slowly and deliberately, he laced one of his arms around her waist, so that his hand came to rest on the small of her back. He gently pushed, pressing her body up against his. She took a short quick breath of surprise, and their eyes locked.

His hand slowly traced her spine as it traveled up her back, and his other hand came to rest lightly on her hip. Their gaze still locked, Daynn's hand reached its destination at the back of Rhaa's head, just underneath her lekku. Holding it gently, Daynn tilted her head to the side, and leaned down, bringing his mouth up against her ear. He whispered so quietly that it was barely audible:

"I know it was you, you little whore."

He followed his statement with a hard shove, knocking the Twi'Lek up against a wall and stunning her, with a look of total bewilderment on her face. Daynn walked out of the room, and the door slid shut behind him.

Claene 20 years ago
Cerulean blue eyes stared straight ahead in the in the dim light of the hallway. She had again taken the position that had become familiar to her recently, crouching against the wall. She had needed to be sneaky before, but never for life and death reasons until now. Everyone was so busy looking for the killers that they neglected to see one important fact. They were all killers. There wasn't one person that was not responsible for the death of an innocent. Sure, they felt they had the best intentions. Her body shaked slightly with a silent laugh as she thought, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions. The road home is paved with humility." She had come here with one purpose, and along away had strayed from that course. She had allowed herself to get caught up in the politics of this place, but had only one thing left on her mind now. Survival.

She heard the door to the medical lab hiss open, and then closed, and she shifted slightly further into the shadows of the corner. Her curiosity was once again getting the best of her and she wanted nothing but to curse herself for it. She heard Daynn's footsteps head off into the opposite direction and she peered around the corner, standing and beginning to walk slowly behind him. She stopped every once in a while to duck into the crevice of a doorway in case he turned around to check behind him. She hadn't become a master at sneaking during her short life, but she knew that if he saw her he could end that life without batting an eye.

When he stopped outside of Rhaa's room, she wasn't the least bit surprised. They had caught her eye when she was trying to carry Kavitha from the bar. The two of them had looked quite comfortable together, so it was no wonder that he'd go to her for a little "Hi honey, I'm awake" action. She plastered herself up against a door not far from Rhaa's room, hoping that the frame did enough to shield her slight build.

She figured that he would be in there for a while, so was shocked when the door slid open again so quickly. Her breath stilled in her throat as she hoped that he would head off in the other direction once again. Luck had been on her side many times since she had begun watching him. How long could it continue?
