Yep, brain is gone on to better things...or well no, it hasn't gone on to anything but its not working anymore.

I hadn't realized how hard the clues would be to spot considering the format of the game - I don't know whether odd phrases are clues or just the way it was supposed to be written in the style of the books.

It seems to me that a poem having survived from earth, would only be able to do so if an earthling or some being connected with the earth, had contact with it. I also note that the murder was not committed by reading of said poem, so his immediate assailants could just be out to maliciously torture and not kill.

I was struck immediately by all the guppy hints, myself. Mainly the fishstick and tartar sauce deal, and the fact that the 'boss' didn't speak at all.

The references to the color green are also a good catch.

Myself, I'm still trying to recover from the phrase 'kitten jelly' while holding my cat in my lap and telling him I won't let them get him.

While I'm putting my spreadsheet together, I just want to throw out the thought that Jin has mentioned before that he doesn't really care for the "word play" type clues. I'm thinking clues that are directed at putting together the puzzle at the scene of the crime will carry more weight then semantics.

Someone 'shuffles' up behind Bartimus. The only person who mentions shuffling that I can see is Geeii, who has it in the first sentence in the context of shuffling papers. Otherwise, I don't see a reference to shuffling but thought it was unique that that particular word was used.

The next thing was the poetry read to Bartimus. Its already been said that they had thought it destroyed. Of all the characters, one might have access to rare works and that could be Jax (Briare?) Copywrite.

Perhaps, but the shuffling in my post wasn't even dealing with my character...it was just some random guy, heh.

To entertain the Green notion, which is becoming more and more tempting as voting draws near...that points to SAGE and Leak.

Fishsticks...guppy...again, tempting, and Ethyl fits.

I just feel like we're looking in the wrong place with those first two :\.

I think the higher power thing might be wordplay, though that would be a compelling clue :\. I just can't find anything in the character thread that looks like a diety of any kind.
