Jersey Girl
Although I'm not sure what the title of it is for, I managed to catch this movie last night on tv and OMG, what a cute movie!
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0300051/
Ben Affleck is Ollie Trinke who is a major PR guy and is married to Gertrude (JLO) who dies in childbirth. So while dealing with the loss of his wife and being a father, he loses his job when he goes off during a failed press conference for Will Smith (who does a cameo at the end).
7 years later, he's devoted himself to his daughter and is living as a pariah after destroying his career. In comes Maya (Liv Tyler) who works as a grad student in a movie rental in their neighborhood. She offers him a mercy 'jump' when she discovers that he hasn't had sex or dated since his wife died 7 years prior.
Anyway, Ollie is insistent on being the man he once was, not embracing the life he has now. Really hilarious dialogue (written and directed by Kevin Smith of Mall Rats, Chasing Amy, etc) and this entire movie had me rolling and crying at the same time.
I'd like to give Bennifer's body an honorable mention. He is fucking hot in this movie but then we all know he gets tubby and marries Jennifer Garner in real life. Seriously, he wears this blue jeans and.../fans self...anyway.
Matt Damon, Jason Briggs (american pie), Jason Lee (Mall Rats, the Incredibles) have cameos as well. George Carlin plays Ollie's father, hilarious. The scene between Will Smith and Ollie is a tear jerker and funny.
Good stuff. Way better than I thought it would be. :thumbsup
Not to mention, all of South Jersey *cough* is my back yard.
