Weekend Flicks - a poem
So you don't understand why I like to see
First run, opening weekend flicks
I'll tell you what it means to me
Bugs, choc'late, car-drivin' hicks
Time to spend with him it gives
For none of us really know
How much longer he's gonna live
And with these times I hope to show
How much I love him and care, too
By spending time so plain
I only wish that you would too
And alleviate some of his pain
He stays in all day, night and week
Body restricting his access
From his mouth the words might leak
Thanks when providing egress
He's still a person, human inside
Trapped behind problems too hard to hide
When he's gone will you decide
"Oh, I shoulda taken him for that ride?"
One day you'll see why you should
Debts pile up, regret does too
And when you remember why you couldn't
Just remember how much he loved you.
