PUGGLES!

I've been promising Rob a dog for like 6 years now. "Not while we're renting." So we're trying to buy a house in the next two months and that means he's started the puppy badgering again, lol.

Rob wants a pug. I want a beagle. You know what you get when you breed a pug with a beagle? A PUGGLE!

OMG SO CUTE!

Jeez, it's fate, I swear it. Who knew that there was a hybrid pug/beagle breed? The more I read about them and the more photos I see, the more I'm convinced that this is the dog for us. I found a breeder that is less than 2 hours from us, and she will have some fall litters ready in October or November, which is EXACTLY when we'll be ready to buy a pup.

FATE.

Those things are weirdly cute =) But I just don;t like pugs.. ugly drooling things. As for odd mixes.. My Mom had a chiuaua and a dachshund who had puppies when I was a toddler. Imagine a long chiuaua body with the barrel chest of a dach, and the long dach ears but they stick straight up like a chiuaua. That dog lived to be like over 16 years old, I still miss her.

Those are pretty darn cute =) Growing up, my family had an AKC registered Golden Retriever, and my boyfriend has a purebred Norwegian Elkhound, but the dogs I've had for myself are just mutts, which I love to death. I guess I can see how mixing breeds could potentially be bad, but sometimes you get the best traits of the different breeds to show. And it makes for some awfully darn cute doggies.

The kennel not letting you visit sounds fishy to me. But I've never purchased a dog from a kennel, nor have I been to one, so I don't know if that's the norm. I'm not sure what disease she thinks the dogs will pick up from you family. My dogs have never caught a cold from me. It's not like you'll be licking their mouths or anything. I know at pet stores if you want to handle an animal they have you sanitize your hands before and after, but it seems really strange to not allow visitors at all. If she's worried about the other way around, your family picking up a disease from the dogs... well... then you probably don't want to buy from that breeder then.

I'm not overly concerned with having an AKC registered dog or even a purebred, but I'd like some reassurance that he comes from healthy facilities. As a family pet, I'd like to know that he will be happy and healthy for years to come.

Yeah, it sounds fishy to me, as well. If she takes good care of her animals and has a clean and healthy kennel, I don't see why she would not allow potential buyers to visit.

Awww...pugs don't drool! They just stick their little pink tongues out at you. They're not slobbery at all. My friend's parents have a black one and she just stares at you with her big bobbly eyes and bright pink tongue with her head cocked. It makes me laugh every time I see her.
