Druid Magelo

This is for a guildmate who's helped me out a lot leveling my char and doing quests and such. I want it to be really good, but I think I'm at my limit of what I know and what I can do. I'm not *really* happy with the pieces I created, like the armbands and the straps across his chest, but I don't think I'm capable of better at this point.

C/C 4 please - I'm still new to this media.

Welp, with the armor, kudos to you for freehanding it because it's a damn sight better than I could've done. You might want to consider getting a screenshot of the armor you're trying to duplicate. Having a side by side reference would probably help with the detailing and scale.

I can't really tell how' he's sitting. I see the foot (cute, it's hairy!) but not the other leg. Again, try using a photo reference of the sitting position you're trying to duplicate.

Maybe for the background you could grab a screenshot of jagged pine forest. The background leaves with the spell effects leaves is ...well a lot of leaves lol. One trick i used to use for swirlies is taking a star sparkle, do it like 75pts or so and then distort/twirling it. You can duplicate and overlap layers, rotating and scaling up or down.

Your armor needs some sort of pattern maybe. It is possible to take a screenshot of the armor and just manip it in, as well. All in all, good effort on this one. =D

Well I'm a little discouraged :( I don't know Shit (with a capital S) about clothing (I can't get ANYTHING to fit on the models - hence not being able to tell how he's sitting - his left leg is all woogy and I couldn't get it fixed :() I spend HOURS trying to get the clothes to fit and they never do. In the DAZ FAQ it says just to click "Fit to Victoria" and it will - it doesn't!!

I'm having problems with files showing up after I unzip them and I guess no one knows, no answers in the thread I posted. And DAZ tech support keeps telling me to go read FAQ's that don't answer my questions...

I don't know what textures are, how they work, nothing. I can't find any tutorials that are basic "Here is the model. Let's add hair!" and walking me through how the crap works. Every tutorial I find and read assumes I know the basics of how the posing and clothing work and I don't.

I think I'll stop working with DAZ for a while and calm down. I really thought these were really good - not top quality like the other things posted here, but I worked really hard on them and I'm sort of upset :( (not about your CC, just about my own inabilities)

I'll be honest with you, I gave up on DAZ and decided some time ago that it just isn't functional and that I should wait for the software fairy godmothers to drop Poser down on me. Stuff just doesn't work right like I think it should and I think you've done much better with figuring it out than I have even. Don't be discouraged though! If at first you don't succeed, try try again :)

Don't be discouraged!!!!! I've been playing with Poser for YEARS, self teaching myself and it takes time.. when I started it wasn't very commonly done (mainly just Blak and Julie on NS) and there was almost no one to ask about it so I muddled through.. I can feel your pain. Especially when I see everyone here does so great so fast, I feel pretty inept, so don't be hard on yourself!!

The main problem with this model right here (I bet) is you found that cute free hobbit morph didn't you? With the foot hair prop, I used that one once, was handy. But I digress.. What no one has told you is that when you change the figure's body, especially something as extreme as this one with proportion changes, the clothes don't and WON'T fit right, you have to manually change each and every freaking part. Or paint on all of the clothes, a super daunting task.

Take a deep breath, grab a frozen super chocolate-y coffee concoction (or your choice of treat) and relax. Now the Daz support are being pricks, OK.. have you checked on the daz forums? If that was no help then how about I walk you through it once? If you have MSN then PM me a time and we can meet up online. (Has to be evenings 6-10ish CST or the weekend) I am not a DazStudio expert but I can fire it up and try to explain how to add your skin texture and hair and such.

I didn't use a hobbit morph, I just played around until he looked like a hobbit :(

I was never able to get Starrydance's tutorial to load but it looks like it is loading now so I can look at it.

I haven't been able to find answers in the Daz website's tutorials - they all read like they assume I know what they're talking about, which I don't.
