HELP!

New class started Thursday .... Digital Illustration.

Big problem: I've never used Illustrator. *GASP*

Our first assignment is to illustrate an apple, however we would like it, and then tell how we did it. I opened up the program thinking the tools would be similar to Photoshop .... WRONG. I have no idea what I'm doing.

I have a textbook. Adobe Illustrator CS Classroom in a Book. It's 564 pages long and a very intimidating thing. I'm sure I'll be forced to use it during this class. For right now, however, I need a really good crash course tutorial for teaching me the basics of Illustrator. Anyone know of any?

Anyone wanna meet me on AIM later tonight and hold my hand and babysit me through this assignment????????

*whines pathetically*

There goes my straight A streak. :(

Take a deep breath. Illustrator is not that difficult. Its been a while (havent used since vers 8). Classroom in a book are very good books. Just start at the beginning, and go through some of the tools tutorial. If you know how to use the pen tool in photoshop, you should be able to do the same thing in Illustrator. Also I know there is a way to add a mesh onto the apple so yu can add a highlight. So look around and see if you can find that. Since this is the first assignment I'm sure they are not looking for masterpieces and an apple should be simple enough. :)

Yeah, Illustrator is quite a bit different form PS. Hmmm... I'd probably just make a circle and start pullin on various anchor points until I get a shape similar to an apple.
