Hm...my first calls would be purely on the stylistics of the wing. It looks like it goes from a more membranous wing type to a full fledged avian. For a softer look, I'd suggest the shoulder joint more similar to the smaller inset pic you have there...lighten or reverse the curve on the upper portion, then in the wrist splay, make the angle less extreme, once again. I think that might give the lighter feel that you're looking for.
I like the cup design that you're expressing with the feathers, though - that definitely adds to the soft feel, and though it is more of a membranous wing quality, it looks good in feathers. :)
Adds to that "floating" aspect.
Angel Wings
've been trying my best to draw... graceful, soft and seemingly loving wings. Wings that make you feel like you're floating just from looking at them... the best i could come up with is this excuse
give it to me hard please. shape, conture, texture. What do you think would work better?
