The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is a lovely little mystery of sorts with about a bucket of heart that can be read in an afternoon. It tells the story of a 15 year old autistic boy's investigation of a murdered dog, but twists along a path of self discovery and understanding.
I am a giant softie when it comes to books (though I can count the movies I've cried at on one hand...Fried Green Tomatoes and Contact are the only two that come to mind) so it may not be the heartbreaking work I'm making it out to be, but I literally had to put the book down and pull it together at one point *laughs*. Really it's a great read and nice for a short fix.
