Restore / Recovery

So my mom calls me today she is having computer issues and wants to restore her computer, my question is will my recovery CD's work with her computer (because she dont have hers)? They are both HP computers (I know people hate HP) and both were bought at the same time. :help

They need to be the same model series - IE if you have a 5350, she needs to have anything in the 53xx series.

Keep in mind if she restores there's a good chance she'll lose all her information.

The *good chance* is actually an absolute. All restore CD's do is write an image of the factory install onto the disk after reformatting.

Actually, it's not.

Older restore CDs - depending on the manufacturer - allow you to replace Windows without an erase/format of the drive.

If she really decides she needs to do this, she MUST read the directions.

Windows 98, maybe.

Actually it sounds to me like you are talking about a repair of the OS, not a restore. And your odds of pulling that move off are about identical to my odds of winning the PowerBall tomorrow. So hopefully, it works!
