The Angry Crayon - Need a fast pick apart!

Ok, I need ya'll to pick this image apart as far as technical issues with it! Mainly on the shadows because I had a very difficult time with them... so much so that I ended up adding some in with postwork. Also, is the makeup too much?

The background of this piece is an elven princess finally returning to her homelands after being sent away as a child. It has been nearly a century since she has been here but her heart still knows that she is finally home.

Yes, I know there is some lighting distortion on her hair. I believe this is from converting it to jpeg. I don't get the distortion in tiff format.

I'm not a master at digital art, but I'll give you my opinion anyways!

First, the freckles are a very nice touch and the current amount of make up is great. The hair is nice and realistic looking, but I have a few minor issues:

- Her lips look wierd, maybe a tiny bit wider?
- Shoulders cloth thingy lacks the same texture quality as the headband and and necklace
- Necklace looks overly flat, how you can remedy that is beyond me
- Headband is cool, but perhaps maybe blend it better with hairling?
-Hair clipping through ear

Like i said I'm no expert, I don't even do art. The only art I do is doodling arrows and boxes (3-D ones).

Also, your picture is very nice

Ok, I tweaked around the textures a bit to give them some more depth. I didn't like how her mouth looked when I tried to widen it out even by .001, so I left it the same. I did my best on the ear but it's not going to look perfect. I will admit that I'm horrible with painting hair LOL

Oh and I completely dropped the frame around it. It was just looking too busy.

Her skin looks fab, but the dress and the jewlery look flat on her skin. It doesn't carry any feeling of depth. I'd try adding shadows in photoshop but duplicating the jewlery on it's on layer and doing a soft soft drop shadow. The cloth on her shoulders look really really flat, like painted on almost. I'm not even sure how to fix that.

Her hair looks great, love her lips.
