Trained Out - a poem

This reaction I've trained out of myself
When looking at woman, lady, real or elf
I'd rather not be carrying around a tent
With signs all poking out wherever I went

I want you to see me as I am - for me
Not as a desp'rate, seeking searching man
For you as your friend I want to be
Before trying to venture to Relationship Land

I can't apologize for this visual
I've forced myself not to display
It's not part of a daily ritual
And honestly, I'm truly not gay.

It's not that I don't find that connection
When I look into your eyes (or lower)
But I'd rather not pop an erection
So all I see in your eyes is a glower.
