I dunno. Marconi is a butcher/baker by his own word. To me, the fresh fish references aren't enough to vote him out with. Fishmongers do that kinda stuff. I am, however, more than a little curious about the reference to sacrifices and altars. Don't fish have biblical significance as well?
My adorable, waif-sh puppydog eyes are looking at Judas for the moment.

Then of course, as mentioned before, there's Seryn, who hurts people and would probably be able (and certainly willing) to fling someone into a crate by the hair.

Heh, guess I deserve that counter vote from Ashmore. Someone had to step up to the plate and start the vote.
Ash, you say you carve meat, not fish. Kinda weak argument. Last time I looked, the mayor didn’t have any gills.
However, the biblical references in the slaying do point elsewhere. The fact that you’ll face me down also says something. I just may change my mind…

Now, don't immediatly expect to break open everything on the first scene. Now, what we have to go on is a correlation between the character bios, and the clues in the scene. So without further ado, here's my take:
Now for mafia
Sarah was thrown by her hair into crates, this is obviously a feat of some strength. So who you ask is strong enough to do this?
Obviously, suspect one is Seryn Constopoplis. His bio is all about strength.
The only one that's near this kind of physical shape is Marko, everyone else is either super young/female or built like a toothpick.
That's it for mafia clues =(
Ok now for the SK:
The thing that really stands out to me is fish. Its in the text twice, so it has to be significant. Anyways, as pointed out before, the only thing we can correlate fish with is the butcher, and the gruesomeness of the whole ecnounter kinda implies a butcher.
Now if we had a fisherman aboard this would be a whole lot easier.
Now for mafia
and then she was grabbed by the hair and flung bodily into the nearby crate.

You see, Seryn hurts people...Standing 6'4 and a muscular 240lbs

I’m in decent physical shape and can handle myself in a fight pretty well,
That's it for mafia clues =(

There are a lot of potential hints in the setup. At this point, too many. The trick will be to focus on the right ones versus the peripheral ones.
Ivan is an atmospheric engineer, and would certainly have had the knowhow to overcome a coolant system or cause a remote dumping, but as part fo a terraforming crew might not necessarily have the programming savvy to cover his tracks.
Seryn is a big guy who likes to hurt folks. Picking the mayor up *by the hair* and tossing her face first into a crate certainly qualifies and wanting to hurt folks. A little rap on the back fo the head could have done fine, especially since there were tools present. That's someone who likes to use their hands.
Everyone has already turned to the butcher Marconi, so I won't revisit it here other than to say in a med lab the most likely weapon is a knife, so pointing at the butcher doesn't necessarily make sense.
Marko is a tricky situation, too. Also a strapping person, he could have been the hair tosser, or the knifeholder. Also, being found on a beach...he probably spent plenty of time eating fish.
Judas is framed in an unpleasant light by the altar comment. Most other folk wouldn't think of an operating table as an altar, so that could be significant, or narrative flair.
The only one who has been brought up that doesn't seem to fit is Alex - the person in the cargo bay dropped their wrench and said that it wasn't easy as it looks. Alex knows his way around tools...so would never make a comment like that. It would also be unlikely for him to look on while others did work he was more suited for.
Right now we're in a vote lock, so that's a good time to think things over some more before geting to the lynching. :P

Oh to sum it up, I think the whole butcher = SK thing is too convenient, not that its not plausible.
The best fit evidence thus far fits Seryn Constopoplis as mafia. Pretty much no one is as strong as he is!

The question is would the the SK clue be that obvious right from the get go? I mean HGTG mafia we lynched the doctor day one on clues that went for the godfather.
I just don't want to lynch an innocent townie on the first night of his first game.

Oh suuure, but it's ok to lynch an innocent townie on the LAST day of the game!
*glare*
My vote's in the air right now. But I don't have enough evidence to vote marconi as SK, it's too obvious.

Tor's got some good thinking going on. Go Willie! I mean Layla!
I need to get the spreadsheet making started but I still haven't done my halloween stuff so I'm running behind.

Hmmm...I think it's Jinheim because of the wrench. People are all looking at the obvious, but have not considered the simple fact that there was a wrench involved. Who else would have need for one? Or for that matter seem ok carrying one?
Though again the wrench could be a diversion, but then again that's also too easy.
So we're looking at someone who is strong and not psychotic, as they listened to the advice to keep her around, which also hints at that they have bigger plans. Meaning out poor victem just walked into something unexpected.
As for the sabatodge, why blow up the ship when you are trapped on it? Which means that the sabatour knew enough about the ship and how it works to rig it so that it would look lethal for the ship, but still easy enough for the engineer to fix. That again speaks of someone with obvious mechanical and engeering capabilities.
