Walk the line - Johnny Cash story

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0358273/

Cast overview, first billed only:
Joaquin Phoenix .... Johnny Cash
Reese Witherspoon .... June Carter

Believe the hype. It was an incredible movie. Starts off as him as a 12 year old who loses his perfect older brother and grows up feeling that his father wished that he had died instead. That there wasn't anything good he had done in his life and sets off on this path of self destruction. He marries his high school sweet heart but is in love most of his life with June Carter.

The move shows his struggle to be a father while being a singing sensation and a drug addict while in love with another singer he meets finally while on this country tour that featured Roy Orbison, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis (actor who plays him seems gay), and Buddy Holly.

One scene where Johnny and June are talking in this diner, back when they first met...the chemistry between the two is amazing. During a quick conversation, he tells her about his brother who died and it was probably the most powerful scene in the movie. Plus he looked FUCKING HOT!!!

If this doesn't get him an oscar nod, I don't know what would. :thumbsup

Both Joaquin and Resse did excellent. I'd love to see another movie detailing the next half of his career with the highway men.

It was nice to see them cast Waylon Jennings son as Waylon. All and all, great movie. It was eerie how in some scene Joaquin look just like Johnny Cash. If that makes sense?

Joaquin is an amazing actor. Imagine if his brother River had lived? Hell, I'd say Joaquin has hit that peak in the past 5 years that his brother hit when he was in Stand by Me. If River had cleaned up his act, he'd be a legend instead of just infamous.

Still, I'll watch anything now with Joaquin.

Agreed. I think that the loss of his own brother might be one thing that helped him pull of the scenes where Johnny Cash deal with the death of his brother with such touching reality.

I do have to agree that Joaquin has hit the big time with this role. It was a monster of a role and he handled it with professionalism and ease. It shows on screen.

yeah this looks awesome, I really want to see it. Even without seeing it I am certain he must have drawn from River's death for the scene you mentioned since JP was with his brother when he died.

/mourn River... what a loss.

Having lost an older brother in a sudden incident I will have to agree. It's a life changing experience you never fully get over. I cried about mine last week and its been 19 years.

Took my Dad to see this today.

I didn't realize Johnny Cash had such a varied life.

Reese is hot with dark brown hair and a Southern Accent. And her singing voice? O.M.G. And Joaquin? Wow. Blew me away.
