My brother recently informed me that he picked up a new hobby of making "chainmail" jewelry. I made fun of him for it until I saw the website with the pictures. I thought a lot of it was very pretty, and unique looking. I thought I'd post this here for a neat-o Christmas idea, and also as a shameless plug to help him out.

For those of you with metal allergies, he said that the clasps on the jewelry (earrings specificially) are made of aluminum or brass, but he also can make them out of stainless, or if a person wants to pay a tad more, he can special order a gold or silver one.
I'm still waiting to find out what e-mail address he wants to use as a business contact one, so I'll post that here once I get that incase anyone has questions they'd like to ask him. In the meantime, I'd be happy to relay any questions you have.

This is weird because a friend of mine just started thinking about doing this - He was wondering if anyone else did it or if it would work. Granted he is still new at it - and doesn't ahve the initiative to follow through. But still funny

I love stuff like that. My favorite choker is made of linked metal, and even my store manager thinks it's a sweet piece.
Some of those necklaces are really pretty. I won't be able to resist, I'm sure one or two might be headed my way in the future!

I had a friend who made a great deal of money making chainmail. It was also his hobby during college and we spent many a game session with him and a bucket of chainmail links that he worked on while we all played. He made full chainmail and also was a tailor who sewed cloaks and things.
Its very pretty and fun to watch. I have a chain bracelet on right now actually.

I was looking at the chokers again, your brother needs to list how big the chokers are and have like a FAQ section. If it's there, I didn't see it. I managed to catch a cold again =(

I'll send him an e-mail but I suspect he can custom make them to the length you want. I don't know *too* much about his business (I just found out he even made these like.. last week), but I'll ask him how customizable they are.
