The War for the Oaks by Emma Bull
Finished reading this earlier today :). It's an urban fantasy filled with geniunely charming characters and a good shake of rock and roll mixed in. The writing wasn't perfect and the book wasn't an earth moving epic work but I don't feel I wasted my time reading it. I walked away thinking and that's always a good thing imo.
Anyone else read this one?

I have, good book...... If you liked that, I recommend a couple of books co-written by Mercedes Lackey and Ellen Guon, sort of a series, the first one is called "Knight of Ghosts and Shadows" and the one after that is "Summoned to Tourney". Then Lackey wrote another series of 3 or 4 books about one of the main characters in those two books, a human bard.

Shall put that on my reading list...actually I think I own one of those books :X. My mom is a librarian and hooks me up with books that have been pulled out of circulation (mostly due to being in somewhat rough condition, though honestly most of them are hard covers and a beat up jacket here and there doesn't bother me in the least.) The library sells such books at something insane like 10 for a buck, it's cool.

Yeah I used to buy bags of old harlequins at the library and give them to my grandmothers, they are both voracious readers and read that stuff. A bag of books for a buck or two cant be beat.
