Platinum Pearls

Sometimes, those lil platinum pearls Daz puts out in the newsletters are pretty good. Figure any time there's one we don't wanna lose track of, just toss it in this thread.

Ghostly glitch

When you add shine to clothing that uses a transparency map, you may end up with 'ghosting' around the invisible edges of the clothes. To prevent this in Poser 6, connect the Specular_Color node of the texture map to the Diffuse_Color image map. In DAZ|Studio, make sure the 'Multiply specular through opacity' button is on, or click the triangle button next to the Specular Strength slider and select the transpareency map from the list that appears.

Spaced-out glass

To create a realistic glass visor for the Space Apes helmet, try adjusting these settings in Poser 5/6/7:

  • Create both reflection and refraction nodes.

  • Use a starscape as the reflection image with a Reflection Value of 0.9.

  • Change the Index of Refraction to 1.5, which is the value for glass, and try a Refraction Value of 0.7.

  • Try different Alternate Specular settings, such as Anisotropic for a dramatic star-flare.
