7th grade?
wow...how sad
However, I also get frightened by the'college' students who can't answer questions on 'Jay Walking'...easy questions...like who the vice president is...or where is our nation's capitol located?
Yes some Kids are really this dumb
This is a real answer from a 13 year old student of mine =/ I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, Anu says I need to stop stressing it, and that someone has to make my Subway sandwhiches. I guess he is right. :-?

I am referring to number 1, he did get number 2 right! FYI this is my remedial class.

My mom's a high school math teacher. She still gets kids who do stuff like that. ;) It doesn't necessarily get any better with age!

You know my 5 year old is crazy for math. He plays chess with his dad and they do those Sudoku number puzzles together, as well...and well I forgot where I was going with this except to say DAMN my kid is smart...

the number lines give a visual representation of where numbers go
how they increase when moved to the right or reduce when moved to the left, helps with the concept of negative numbers
