Bond Mafia Scenario

MI6: Headquarters

Bond walked in with his usual swagger. After all these years, Moneypenny never got tired of it. She remembered to smile and laugh a little as the hat was casually tossed across the room to land perfectly on the rack. She really did wish that one of these days he would take advantage of what was right in front of him.

“M is waiting for you.”

“You shouldn’t rush the moment Moneypenny. The buildup is what makes it so enjoyable.”

“Some days James, all we have time for is the quickies.”

M’s Office:

Bond entered the office and closed the door behind him. He really didn’t know what to expect. This was yet another new M, and this one was one of those Douglas Houser types. It seemed that M had joined the agency before she could walk. Now at the ripe old age of thirty-something she was the new M. One thing he was sure of was that he did not like her.

“How was the vacation 007?”

“Vacation? I was under the impression it was a forced retirement.”

“It is a forced retirement until I decide otherwise, then it is an extended vacation.”

“Does this mean I am useful again?”

M decided not answer that as she had very definite opinions on the matter. Instead, she decided to get to the point.

“The American CIA has been monitoring the financial expenditures of suspected terrorist groups and fronts. They have been doing this for some time. Two days ago, one of their agents discovered a pattern.”

Bond waited through the pause for the punch-line. So far, he had not heard anything that would concern him specifically.

“Several of the suspected companies have recently invested in various toy companies for research and development. Toys are imported into every country around the world. They are among the least suspected imports. It would be a simple matter to get these items into innocent homes. I hope I do not have to explain to you why this is a matter of global security.”

“Of course not. I am however, still waiting on the rest of this bedtime story.”

“Indeed. Under normal circumstances both the toy companies and the suspected investing groups would be put under further investigation. Standard operating procedures would apply. However, the preliminary research into the case revealed that each of the toy companies will be attending the same conference in St. Croix. The time table has been moved up.”

“So, Tatty Teddy and Barbie are having a party? Our job is to locate the party planner and determine the nature of the party favors.”

Bond still had not heard the part about what this had to do with him. Not that he minded going to St. Croix of course.

“We have been sent a list of guests currently registered to attend. One name should interest you. Eve LeDoer. Her father was Simon Saiz.”

M waited for the name to register. When she saw the flicker of recognition, she continued.

“Saiz utilized and extensive network of double agents. You were only able to apprehend him when his agents failed to give matching misinformation. We have reason to believe double agents are again in play.”

“Then we suspect LeDoer is carrying on her daddy’s work?”

“Possible. We do not have enough information. Until we know more, suspect everyone. More importantly the global nature of this issue requires international cooperation. This unfortunately increases the likelihood of double agents being present.”

“I prefer to work alone.”

“Not this time 007. The U.S. President had no choice but to notify the world governments. The other agents would be there regardless. It is better they are working with us. You will be the lead in the operation. We have two agents who have already checked out. One is already there. We will be forwarding the profiles of all the other agents to this one as they are compiled. The other agent has recently completed some advanced medical training. You should stay in frequent contact with both of these agents.”

“When do I leave?”

“Tonight. One more thing 007. While you were on vacation there has been a string deaths among agents. The only connection has been a piece of dismantled equipment found with the corpse. With this many agents in one place, we are concerned the killer might be drawn to St. Croix. Be careful. We suspect the killer may be an agent who has either turned or cracked.”

“Understood.”

“Good. See Q, he will have a few things for you before you leave.”
