phpbb q's!

ok so i havent done anything to my site in ages. now im tryin to redo it. but im having issues with faggot spammers on my boards

i currently disabled the ability for anyone to post. But how do i make it so you have to be a registered user to post?
i set it so only admin can accept you as a registered user ( i think) but fags are still posting under guests

i dont need slot and poker and buy cialis scammers flooding my board =/

anyone can help? pwease?

From what I remember you have to go through the Forum Permissions, forum-by-forum, and change the permissions from Public to Registered.

Guests will be able to read (I think) but not post.

in each forum permissions you click advanced, and it lets you pick what usergroup can post/view/edit /etc.. in the forum.

it says POST: REG

but how are they still posting?

maybe they are registering and i didnt block it? like it say

slots (their name)
guest (underneath the name)

and then when i look them up to ban then it says no username found?

well

something isnt set right, and i'ts nearly impossible for *me* to figure it out without seeing the cp.

Are you sure they didn't post before you changed permission settings ?

ok 2 of the forums werent set right! whew! found them

but, someone registered and i still didnt get anything for em to ok them doing so?

is this what i should have checked off to do so or am i missing something

that should be the right one. anyone registering after saving that setting, should have to be activated by you.

Also check the box for Visual Confirmation. this will make it harder for hackers to sign up and by pass your Admin Autho.
Dia 19 years ago
where is that box?
FyreGarnett 19 years ago
how old is your version? I have both 16 & 19 and on each it's right under Enable Account Activation. Hate to say it, but you need to do a serious upgrade to this board. That may actually be a big part of the problems you are experiencing.
Dia 19 years ago
i have no clue. ive had the board for about a year.
FyreGarnett 19 years ago
you can doublecheck in the control panel ~ main page toward the bottom should list the version number. it should have a bright red message saying something about needed to upgrade to version "whatever" the newest is, though i'm not sure when they started including that feature.

your version will have to be upgraded to get the visual confirmation added in. if you don't have any mods installed, upgrading would be fairly simple. the more mods, the more complex it becomes.
Dia 19 years ago
hmm i just have the one mod installed

/goes to check

how bad is it that is says powered by phpbb 2.0.6 ?

FyreGarnett 19 years ago

Dia 19 years ago
