/sneaks back in again~
So, this is not my usual speed, I actually started this trying to figure out how to make refections on the floor. And then decided to make a portrait for my mage friend.
I already gave it to her and it was just for fun, but would love CC FFR from all you reflective floor junkies. =) For some reason my shadows are all fuzzy instead of crisp like I wanted them, but after 8 renders, I finally said fuck it...

I like the border on this, I'm so lazy about borders. =x I'm not a big user of reflective floors yet, I really should get on it...but I know Vex said there's something about the lighting.../snort. There's my help!
There are probably some good tutorials in the TAC Institute 3d section about it. I seem to recall I twisted Vex's arm to post something. Definitely check there though. If there isn't anything, I will twist her arm when she returns from vacation =D

if you're using poser, and your shadows are set to raytrace, set the bias ( i think? 2nd dial on the properties window ) to 0.1 ( by default i think its 0.8 )
if they are depth map shadows, set the map size to 1024. It will take longer to render the shadow maps, but they are waaaay nicer.
http://www.vexiphne.net/shadows/shadows.html here's a link to a few test renders i did to help roz with them.

I actually did that in Daz. I have Poser 6, but my computer dies every single time I try to render something. I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. Maybe I just need a new damn computer. /growls at this one.
Thank you Vex, I will try that out in Poser and hope it doesn't crash again.

Welp, your amount of memory has a CRAP load to do with your ability to render. Muti facted scenes crash mine at 1gig. If you can get 2 gig, that would be butta.
