I'm looking forward to the Transformers Movie....always been a Transformer fan. Can't get the kiddo to watch the cartoons though. I always thought they were rad.

Top Gun doesn't count. That was 1986 and if anything it gave the Navy record recruiting numbers.

He-Man and She-Ra would totally blow Thundercats and G.I. Joe out of the water. I would pay money to see that, no matter how bad it turns out. :D

It's all good. It doesn't have to have a deep story (because.. well, the G1 story wasn't all that great overall).

If it has robots that transform... good enough for me.

And on another note.. She-Ra Best of DVD makes its debut this week! That'll go great with my He-man season DVDs.

omg me too! Once I saw him , hubby and I are like sweet! My sons like dude! its prime! YESSSSSSSSSSSS!! lol Hubby and I are such 80s kids. our son is hopelessly into all the old 80s cartoons tooo lol Thundercats, he man/shera, gi joe etc.

I'll go see the movie, but I'm not real fond of the style choices for the Transformers. They just don't look a whole lot like the 'bots I know and still love. Advance pics of Megatron, for instance, have been...bleh.

So Agent Smith is doing Megatron's voice. Thoughts?

Hugo Weaving has the command, the power, the evilness in his voice that Megatron needs, where the original actor - Frank Welker - has aged to the point that, while his voice can still be recognized as Megatron, it's a totally different timbre and loses some of the flair.

It's rumored, though, that Welker -will- be playing another 'bot in the movie.

As far as "bots we know and love" part of the point behind the movie is to make it realistic, with "real" transformations, as opposed to mass-shifting suspension of disbelief as we saw in the cartoons.

Further, the personalities will be the same, even if the bodies will be marginally or strikingly different.

I still stand by my prediction that this will be the blockbuster of the year, even over HP and SP3.

Well, there's no Soundwave and Megatron isn't a gun, so the mass-shifting problems have been largely avoided. Besides, with a lot of the new designs, you wouldn't even be able to tell they turned into a vehicle without knowing beforehand.

The heads are my biggest problem. Given that the original head designs were all so similar, what with a fin or a crest being the only difference from character to character, the new head designs seem even more indistinct. And scary, even on the Autobots.

I do like Weaving as Megatron, though.

This movie better be rated PG or, god willing, R because if I don't hear a couple F bombs coming out Optimus Prime's mouth, Ima cut a bitch.

According to someone...I think it was the main male lead...it was going to be R, but Spielburg sweet-talked the MPAA to go back to PG-13. I don't know how reliable that is, though.

Some people campaigned for Prime to say "I fucked your mom."
