Couple scoop £1.3m on Lotto..but won't give up their jobs at McDonald's
By Richard Smith

A COUPLE too poor to buy a home on burger bar wages have scooped £1.3million on the National Lottery.
But despite their windfall, Emma Cox, 28, and Luke Pittard, 23, insisted: "We're staying where we are.

"It's not many people who are served by millionaires when they pull up at McDonald's."
The couple met while working at the same fast food branch and now have a daughter, Chloe, two.

But they were unable to afford a house in their home town of Cardiff - where average prices are £180,000.

Area manager Emma, who earns £16,000 a year, lives with Chloe at her parents' home, while £12,000-a-year staff trainer Luke stays with his mum and dad five miles away.
Luke said: "I admit the McDonald's wages aren't great but we enjoy it. Now we can afford a home of our home.

"But we won't go mad - it will be something modest, like a three-bed semi with a nursery.

"We both really enjoy working for McDonald's. Like the slogan says, 'We're loving it.'"
Luke even popped into a McDonald's for a Big Mac and chips yesterday before collecting the jackpot cheque.

The couple won with a lucky dip in last Wednesday's draw.
The winning numbers were 18, 20, 26, 27, 28 and 39.
Emma fell for Luke when he joined the company four years ago at their branch in Pontprennau, Cardiff.
She said: "We're on cloud nine and can't wait to start looking for a house.
"Chloe's only two, so she's a bit young to understand what's going on.
"But I'm sure she will be suitably spoiled.
"We are enjoying all the attention but we are looking forward to getting back to work.
"We will take a holiday later in the year to go on a cruise - but then it's back to McDonald's."

Because I'm not stupid enough.

So unfair.

I mean, one could argue that they're doing 'a good thing' by staying employed and keeping regular income as well as whatever passes for health insurance over there (if they qualify) but seriously... Get the flock out of Dodge, you idjits.

Move far away and buy a freaking McDonalds if you love it that much. *rolls eyes*
