My eye is twitching
It's been doing that a lot lately, not in the same place, but just general eye twitching. I heard someone its a stress thing, a nervous twitch. WTF MAKE IT STOP! =( What causes it really?

Ugh - for months I had that problem off and on...nearly drove me insane! I heard it was stress related as well, but I am not a person who stresses, so I think that was a bunch of whooey. Eventually it did just stop. I never thought to ask a doctor about it :P

There a lot of things that can cause an eye twitch. When I was a teenager all the stress of my parents divorce and then being shipped off to my grandparents started an eye twitch. My doctor told me that it could be from stress, improper use of computers, too much caffine, the need of a new eye glass prescription, or even a food allergy.
My advice is to try each one out and see if it stops. It is what my Dr. made me do. I ended up on a low dose anti-anxiety drug for a little while to stop mine.
It might alos be a combination of any of those things. However, Doc said that the most common culprits are stress and glasses/contact prescriptions.

I don't think I'm stressed. (ponders) No...I have a ridiculously lax job, healthy kid...i haven't had sex since May though, but I'll have plenty next month. Hmm...maybe its time to refresh my dvd library at work.

It could be lack of se... err. I mean!
Hubby gets these sometimes, although his are all stress, sunlight strain, or "staring at the computer too damn long" strain, or OMGIHAVENT HAD A DRPEPPER YETTTTTT.
No really, could just be computer strain, or whatnot.
If its really bad you could just clal your doctor and ask - I do that for most minor shit. =p

It can also be from allergies or something called blepharitis, which is when your tear film can't operate properly. We get a few patients pass thru with that complaint, and usually some type of aritificial tear (Refresh or Genteal, or Systane are great) works ok to help it settle down, and keeping your eye lid margins scrubbed daily (even if you can't see anything wrong with them) helps too (in shower put washcloth over finger and scrub area where lashes grow out of eye, top and bottom!)
Anywho, advice from your resident certified ophthalmic assistant :)

I use visine every day because of the way I sleep. Both my brother and I sleep with our eyes half open so when we wake up, we have the crazy red veins. When he flew in last month, I thought he had been toking it up big time in the airplane bathroom. They were fricking blood shot.
Maybe it's eye strain, I'm at the computer damn near 24/7 =(

Could also be your monitor at work, Does your eye hurt a little when it twitches ?? Up the refreash rate on it to as high as it will go and yes the coffee could be contributing. I had the same issues some years back with a bad monitor.

Something else to consider...
Do you have floresent or neon lights at work? They flicker at opposite intervals to most computer screens and after a while most people have some sort of reaction to them. Me, I get migrains from it. Also if you have floresent lights and one is starting to go out, its flicker changes and that might be a contributing factor as well.

Are you using regular Visine or Visine Tears? Regular Visine is not good to use for long periods of time, the only thing it does is constrict the tiny blood vessels in your eyes, to literally "get the red out". Sergon had a point too about the computer monitor, or anything we do at close up. We tend to blink less when we are looking at things close up, that can spiral into all sorts of eye irritations. And the fluorescent lights drive me nuts Kay! Lol.....at work I prefer to use as little light as I can get away with, we say we work in the bat cave all day ;)

I'd have to check what visine I'm using. Usually I go for the tears or advanced stuff. Is that bad? =(

Anything that says gets the red out isn't good for long periods of use, since their main action is to shrink the blood vessels temporarily. Tears are good :) Haven't honestly looked at the "Advance" bottle description. Our clinic uses/promotes Thera Tears, Systane, Refresh and Genteal brands. I use Refresh and sometimes Systane, since they are a little thicker and keep my eyes lubricated longer. They all come in different consistencies.....oh yeah...and ceiling fans over your bed are the devil too! .... when we sleep sometimes we flutter our eyelids and can even sleep with them partially opened, and moving air over your cornea can cause lots of irritation..
Ok, I need to shush lol, this was just an eye lid twitch and I have branched off to dry eyes, blepharitis....cornea troubles....lol, anyhow, hope your lid quits twitching soon!

It's something to do with work. It didn't twitch the whole weekend and now it's twitching again. I have a large window to the right of me and a floruescent light above me, I guess that's it.
Although Jinheim seems to think unconsciously I'm unhappy because I am stress free and happy. O_o

Is it possible to turn that floresent light off and replace it with floor lamps or something? Otherwise your eye will keep twitching.

I used to be able to jut turn off the lights and work with the daylight, but its been raining and they're replacing one of the 2 windows in this office so it's too dark. You know as soon as I started reading this thread, my eye began to twitch. I'm seriously thinking it's psychological lol
