I returned home from a short out-of-town to this email from some person I had never heard of...

Hi there,

Your pieces are kewl, most are worked out finished and detailed.
You have a plastic premade look to them though using poser. They're missing so much life and uniqueness, and get the look of "dolls" instead of free lines. It's like they're captured and misplaced. Poser makes them look that way, since it uses premade models. You ever tried using maya and use free pencil drawings as a base? you would get more free and less hard, premade looking art. Just wanted to say that, bye xP.

I know its silly to let it bother me, but WHY would some dumb person feel they had to tell me this? lol And what made me madder was my husband pronounced after reading..."Aww you're just over-reacting." !! Well, dammit maybe I am but it still pissed me off.

Sorry =/ I just had to have a mini-rant and vent to people who might understand.

My opinion is anytime you put something you create out for public view, you are opening yourself up to criticism...good, and bad.
I guess I tend to agree with your husband. Either just let it go, or consider it. At least they weren't obnoxious in their comments, even though they could have worded their statements a bit more tactfully.

Tell them 'thank you for looking at and appreciating my art. If you truly wish to see me start down the path of Maya-dom, please feel free to send me an e-check in the amount of $2500 US, which is the retail box cost for Maya software. Thank you for taking the time to write, and remember not everyone has a corporate sponsor handing them software.'

Or something with a few more expletives. :)

Don't let it get to ya hon. I know it's hard, but sometimes ya just gotta get that who the fuck cares attitude. Your work is far from plastic or doll like. *rolls eyes* I agree with Mileron tho, send him a nice note suggesting he send money to pay for Maya since he's obviously so generous with his advice, maybe his pocket book is generous too ;)

Someone just told me the same thing, about my recent piece looking plastic. Just say thanks for the c/c and let it go. Annoying and stupid but not worth fretting over.

Yeah, I know ya'll are right. Just hit me at a bad time yesterday and I was cranky. Thanks for listening :)
