Chick flick vs Action movie

No spoilers ;)

So this weekend I saw both 'The Holiday' and 'Blood Diamond' and while each was completely different from the other, I enjoyed each as well. They are both very entertaining movies.

The Holiday, was indeed, a chick flick, and I laughed, cried, and drooled over Jude Law :cross He's got some gorgeous green eyes there! I think another reason I liked the movie so much, was because I identified so well with the Kate Winslett character, Iris. But you know there had to be something going for the movie to get me to watch Cameron Diaz for over two hours. Something about her I just don't get. The Jack Black character reminded me a lot of a really sweet guy I know too. It was just a really nice holiday 'feel good' movie.

Blood Diamonds was as much about war as The Holiday was about love, but a fascinating movie none the less. There is a lot of violence in the movie, but I've seen worse, and the story keeps going at a break neck pace for the entire two hours plus.

I would recommend them both, and will be seeing Apocolypto one night this week to add to my list.

The Holiday does look cute, but I doubt I could get Mike to come with me to see it. Gonna have to wait till it's on dvd. Blood Diamond...although I'd see it for the supporting character, god I don't know his name but he was amazing in Constantine and The Island, the black actor - I still can't get over Leo's HORRIBLE australian accent. I mean, god why bother? It sounded so forced in the previews, it would totally distract me if I watched it =/

Mel Gibson's Apoc movie was #1 this weekend with 14 million, they said it was done in a old mayan dialect...dia...anyway, it's in subtitles, not that I don't mind those but I know some people just can't focus on the movie while reading =x

Leo's accent was Rhodesian, and didn't distract me at all, in fact I think he held it up very well throughout the movie.

Djimon Hounsou is the black actor, and I agree, everything I've ever seen him in he's been awesome.

And as for subtitles, I've never had a problem with them either.
