Happy things.

So it snowed like a million inches yesterday. They closed the base which caused a chain reaction with the government run business on base, 1 being Catherine's after school program. No big deal, she had her christmas party in her class so both Mike and I were there and I took her home with me. However, we did get stuck for about a half hour trying to cross the base which usually only takes 7 minutes. So ran through the snowfall into the BX to buy some last minute stuff for Mike's Airmen presents. Then we ran down to the other end where the commissary is and bought a few things. Then ran back to the other end into the bx to pick up ribbon that I forgot. I bought it at the gun counter, how convenient huh? That's alaska.

So we get home and there is literally a hill of snow down the middle of the road - looks just like a snow fort, only half a mile long. I'm in a low 646 mazda and like an idiot, I kept cutting across the snow making catherine laugh - well more for me I was laughing too. Luckily I didn't get stuck. My neighbor did though =x So I'm trying to shovel my driveway, about 5 inches high of snow, no shit, and she gets stuck.

Roz come help me.

Standing with a confused look on my face, covered in snow and 5'3. 'Help you how??'

So I wade thru the snow and start pushing on her car. Yeah that worked. So I yell at the neighbor kid to come help and the guy down the street who's on his personal little snow plow help dig her out. But while I'm standing there, the light from the street lamp shined in my face just right and the wind blew the snow around me in wild spirals. I look over and see Catherine throwing herself in the snow with her friend, little girl laughter filling the neighborhood, and for one brief moment, I liked Alaska.

I walked back over to my driveway and noticed that after being half done with it, I'll have to go back and do it again since it was already piling up on the clean side.

I hate Alaska again and all was well in the world.

Glad the natural balance of things is restored *wink* but really happy you had a sweet moment to smile at too.

At least up there in Alaska, you can occasionally visit your neighborhood Olive Garden.
