Children of Men
Eh.
Saw it last weekend, and was disappointed. It wasn't 'bad'...the acting was good, and there were some interesting views portrayed, but it was just less than inspiring in my eyes. The ending kinda left me feeling...blah.

well I really want to see this movie.. the premise is very intriguing and I love movies set in the "bleak future" type scenario. Besides the leading man is drool inspiring :D

I haven't read the book the film was based on, but overall I wasn't too disappointed with Children of Men. The acting was very good, the premise while not original, was interesting enough to keep me watching and any film where Michael Caine plays a doped up hippie type ain't too bad at all.
Yes the ending was sombre, but I expected it to be. It was never going to be a happy film when you,
*spoiler*
kill off a lead actress less than a thrid of the way into the film
*spoiler*
That said there was one other major groan (and not in a good way) bit that almost had me cringing.
Clive Owen does Clive Owen great and I shall ne'er hear a bad word said against him.
Don't take your partner to this film if you're looking to liven up the evening or cop a cheap feel. It just ain't gonna happen.

I didn't mind the tone of the ending, but it didn't really effect me...I didn't feel moved by it. I think that's what disappointed me.
Curious to know what you refer to though FW...the 'groan'.

What made me groan in exasperation was the long drawn out sequence where the B is revealed to the refugees and the waiting soldiers. It was supposed to be a dramatic event, but I thought it was overdone badly.

YES! That bothered me too...and is a good example of what I meant about not 'feeling' the movie. I don't know how else it could have been done, but I think it should have been more moving, rather than...boring. Not to mention, somewhat unrealistic?

Unrealistic was right. Almost like baby Jesus had been reborn and decided to wave his goodwill to all men finger at everyone. bleh :P
