FTW!
Also saw this last weekend, and was much more impressed with it than the other movie I saw.
It's predictable...the subject matter isn't terribly unique...but I had another agenda for seeing it.
I went to high school at David Starr Jordan, in Long Beach, and we were rivals to Wilson HS, where this story takes place. However, Wilson is the high school close to the beach, and when I was in school, was full of the rich, 'have all' kids.
Enter forced integration in the 90's, and the school went quickly to hell. Having been gone from the southern California area for several years now, that whole thing took me completely by surprise.
I was shocked, and saddened by the state of the school...things were so different back when I was a teenager. However, the teacher, and what she was able to accomplish with her students was truly awesome, and made for a very entertaining flick.
