Mil Millington
For the record, in my personal opinion, there isn't a funnier man on the planet, with the possible exception of Jon Stewart. There's certainly not a funnier man in the UK than Mil Millington.
If you've never heard of him, I found him once when I saw a URL for his website, Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About (www.thingsmygirlfriendandihavearguedabout.com ).
This is an extremely long page about his girlfriend Margret and the insane things that she does. It's extremely well-written and hysterically funny. I do some online dating (yeah, so?) and often I'll give this URL to a guy to see his reaction to the humor; if he likes it and says it was funny, then he and I share a sense of humor; if he doesn't like it and, like one guy, says "I didn't read too far down," then he's pretty much not for me because he just won't get me .. ever.
If you like dry British humor, you should definitely check out Mil Millington.
He has a small following in the US and he's not big enough yet to be famous; he's still humble enough to have a mailing list that he sends out once a month chatting with his fans. He's got two books out. His first effort was Things My Girlfriend and I Have Argued About, which was only peripherally about his girlfriend. It's a rather strange book, and it's based upon his life, but with some odd things happening. Funny, though.
His second book is much better: A Certain Chemistry. I don't know if this can be found at a Barnes & Noble, but I got my copies of both of his books at Amazon.com. People Magazine gave Chemistry four stars out of four. It's about a writer who has an affair with the woman he's writing a biography about, and his efforts to hide the affair from his live-in girlfriend. Holy crap is it funny! And entertaining, most definitely.
I highly recommend Chemistry, and if you like his homepage you'll probably like Girlfriend too. He's absolutely hysterical! Now why can't I meet a guy like him here in the States?!?[/url]
