Wish me luck!

So I've been trying for almost a year to get a job where X works. Awesome corporation, great pay, benies, etc. I have an interview this morning!!!! X sent the hiring guy my resume directly and bypassed HR which was apparently my bottleneck. So.. the guy said lots of nice things about me to X based on my resume. Let's hope I don't dissapoint him when we meet and I get the position!

Even though my commute would go from 11 miles to like 35.. I've been spoiled with 7 years of never touching a freeway and being close enough to go home at lunch if I wanted.. but for double the money and actual advancement opportunity I think it's worth it. Plus I get out of the plants and won't have to go to work someplace where an idiotic mistake could (literally) blow everyone up. Or start a massive fire. (Been there a few)

I'm freaking out lol!

thanks y'all! I think it went good. Though.. I may have been a couple minutes late, i got lost trying to find the hotel meeting room they were in =x but i'll know something next week!

Soo... they called and asked me to fax in all this paperwork they had forgotten to get from me at the interview. Application, consent for drug testing, equal opportunity employment census crappola, acknowledgement of their policies, yadda yadda. When I called to confirm they'd received it she said it was already sent to corporate and they should be contacting me in a couple days.

This sounds good, right?

weee! Thanks guys! X and our friends who work there think I did, too. It was funny.. X says to me that at this company, what was it exactly.. oh yeah, "they just love nepitism (sp?) there, it's like crack to them" Now I have to be patient until I hear something official. *bites nails*

OMFG... I GOT THE JOB.

On March 12th I will be starting... I can't stop laughing and I think I'm going to throw up!

It's a lower salary grade than I'd originally been told but it's still over 1/3 more money AND I'm egtting direct hired on so instant benefits, 401k and such.

Why a lower salary grade, that stuff is negoitable, demand more!

trust me, not negotiable. they'd already prepped the hiring pack and were overnighting it to me with my offer. there were two positions, a lead and a standard and i didn't get the lead *sigh* But it's still an awesome deal I would think. i lose a week of vacation (believe me i would have negotiated for THAT but they don't deviate from company policy period) but the pay's better than what i have, this company eats up and encourages ambition like it was a drug and i don't have to go to work someplace every day that could literally blow up! yay!

yeah shes gonna be my little co-worker... well kinda, shes gonna be like 15 miles from where i work but at the same company....

so i guess shes not then.. bah, it's all good
