liove the pose, setting, face... but my eyes keep trying to figure out if she's actually touching the tombstone - though i think the shadows will answer that one! can't wait to see the next phase!

i think her hand is turned a little bit awkward.
stand up against a wall like she is and see how your hand falls. mine is usually straight up.
need to tighten the grip on her staff as well.

The shadows look really good, now it looks like she's touching the gravestone:D

I like this. However I am torn.. I love the shadowy darkness of the render but part of me wishes more of her details popped. Down by her feet it's so dark. It could just be me!

I like the lighting on this one. I don't think you need to see her feet, she's in the dark, at night, at a cemetary. The lighting on her face really plays up her expression. What are you going to postwork? I wouldn't over do it with the glow or sparkles on this one. You don't always have to have that with every piece - it'll just look over done. Just remember to keep it subtle and play up the night!

all the postwork i was going to do was add a light opac green glow around the bird skull and maybe a few loose strands of hair... keep it real necroish

You know what would be neat, in photoshop, use the magnetic lasso and section off the head of the staff onto its own layer. Then in between the original layer and underneath the duplicate, do a soft, big airbrush blob with the opacity set to half or so. It'll look like it's radiating out of the head of the skull. Subtle but effective!

Definitely go with the darker.

I kinda prefer the darker one myself.
maybe mix the two. put a spotlight on her, and a spot light on the background, so its dark, but its got a little bit of a light shining around to give it more depth. its fantasy, and its a flat picture, its not like you can look around and see that there's nothing casting lights, so go hog wild on em ;)
and I have a suggestion to turn down the specularity on the gravestone to practically nothing, and put the bump/displacement up some. its looking a bit like a plastic toy.

i'd also go with the darker version :)
The Shadows look great on her and now she is definately touching the gravestone, i also like the green glow on her face from her staff.
Her Pose is like... "Mess with me and you're in trouble", i like that :)
