The Good Shepherd

Overall this movie was enjoyable but it is definitely a 1 time movie. This stars...well quite a bit of people. Matt Damon is Ed Wilson or 'Mother' as his russian counterparts refer to him. He is the heart and core of what is known today as CIA. And it's not 'the' CIA, but CIA. There's a quote in the movie that explains why - I won't give that away.

It centers around this whole secret society called Bones or whatever. It's what the high bred rich guys did in the 40's to segregate themselves even more from the general US populace. In any case, the movie spans between the early 40's before WW2 to the 60's and JFK's failed Bay of Pigs against Castro and Cuba.

It's confusing when they bounce back and forth since Matt Damon doesn't really seem to age. Angelina Jolie, his wife who happened to be the sister of one of his secret society friends whom ne knocked up on his one and only fuck with her, seems to be the only one that actually ages. Matt Damon looks the same from when he was in his 20's to his late 40s. In any case - there are about 5 different storylines that happen at once. A picture. A recording. His relationship between him and his wife/child. His position within the CIA and controlling information to save the US, and then to his final choice.

I gotta say, it's a long movie but it's worth getting through. There were parts in it that had me yelling on the couch and the ending was weird/sad/revolting - but wow it's a long convoluted story - much like my post here hehe.

Oh good - I've been wanting to see it, but kept putting it off because I hadn't heard any reviews. Now I think I'll watch it :)
