My cute friend...WIP

So this is what I'm working on now, and while the hair, clothes, and background are still in progress, what I'm focused on finishing now is the face.

Suggestions? Please :)

Is this one with or without the anti-aliasing on? It's Mileron too!

Do you have any options for adding a brush stroke to your lines? Varying the stroke width a little on the hairs and the linework might give it a nice kick :).

Without - and yup - poor guy is acting as my guinea pig :S

Oh my - the hair is FAR from done...and I just realized I've been doing the hair backwards, and will be redoing it from the start, but because its all separate layers, it will be easy enough.

I do have a paint tool, which is pretty much all I use to touch up, but I'm thinking PSP is different, since I don't think I can set it to vary the pixel widths. I'll have to check that out though.

And if you mean the outlines, by line work, then yea, I wasn't really happy with it all being so fine. I'll see what I can do to adjust that as well.

Thanks so much guys!

I dont understand why you won't try it with the anti on?
Den 18 years ago
LOL - I never said I WON'T try it...hell, I'll try anything.

What I tried to say was I have used anti-alias on artwork before, and when I first started doing vectoring, or what I've been reading was what I thought to be vectoring, I interpretted it to mean it wouldn't work with anti-alias on.

Oooh ok =D Looking forward to seeing the reworked/completed hair =D

you should be able to vary the brush width in PSP, though to be honest it's been a few months since I used it so off the top of my head i don't remember how you do that. (it hasn't migrted to my new puter and vista already scares me enough as it is!!)

looking good - can't wait to see the next phase (or the final, whichever comes first!!)

That's looking good, Shay. I had to get used to working back to front when I started vectoring also. Its natural to do on some things even while painting, like hair, but sometimes you can start wherever on other things. Not with vector; its a stacking process that can occasionally make me mutter and start shifting layers around. I've definitely made more work for myself that way more than once. ;)

Ok - I'm done with this for now, unless anyone has more suggestions. I'm so not happy with the hair, but suck at guys hair anyway, so I didn't expect I'd be happy there. I also went back and redid several pieces with anti-alias on, and while I do see the benefit, I'm not sure it's the look I was going for. However, I did learn a lot with this piece so that's the main thing :)

Thanks Mil - for being such a good sport:hug

He doesn't have any buttons on his shirt. However, it doesnt take away from the piece at all, so you could just leave it that way.

The shirt that I was wearing in the picture that Shay based this art from had no buttons that high; it was a hawaiian shirt with a pretty low first button.

Almost a cleavage shot, :teehee

It's great Shay. I like it - me - it - the pic - a lot!
