Very cool! One thing I would suggest, even if only on future dragon pieces, is to take your sharpen tool and lightly go over his scales in various places. Just a suggestion Btw, who's the teacher and who's the pet?

Me likey! Some suggestions, probably more preference - your background looks a little low reso with some pixels, also the lighting doesn't seem to match the setting. You have the candles next to them and they're against a backdrop of an evening sky but it's pretty bright. I'd maybe postwork in some orange glow on the scales next to the dragon but pull back on the brightness by postworking in some dark shadows around the corner. Same thing with her spell effect, do a soft glow on her skin and the area around it on the dragon.
Speaking of spell effects, you know me and my pickiness hehe. I'd maybe add a soft blob of light to give it a balanced center, I guess you could say. Try looking for photoshop brushes on deviantart.com and try something at half opacity with a soft outer glow.
v4 looks great, I love her pose - the dragon looks magnificent. His colors, his scales - nice idea with the sharpening to give it a nice little glisten. Love the pet/master idea, we should try that sometime as a challenge maybe =)
