internet speak + work = not good

I was raised driving in Los Angeles...have mastered hilly traffic of San Francisco...as long as I know where I'm going, no amount phases me anymore.

However, I generally hate to drive more than 10 miles at any given time :P

Yep, sorry, Texans, but California is kicking your ass for the number of cars stuck on the road. Peace, love, happiness and a loaded 45 ;)

The cities having the worst traffic problems are:

Back to the topic... The solution to the l33t speak in everyday life is to get all your friends and family to play. I accomplished this too well...

I called my mother up for a ride home from work one night. She said "Well I can't right now, dear, I'm in a raid."

..... :sad

She did come get me thankfully but she made my brother run her character so that she didn't have to go afk.

I think I'd just about die if Mom ever said that to me.

If my mom ever used the word raid, it would be in regard to killing bugs...I'm with you on that Mil, though I'd die laughing.

I don't know, I was fairly amused even at the time.

I have to be really careful when I write up emails for my church volunteer work. Every once in a while I'll forget myself and smillie all over the place. And then I'll get a gentle hand on my arm at church and a lowered voice that says, "what's with all the weird punctuation in your emails?" I usually chuckle and apologize for my inability to control the smillies.

mai, i can so see your mom doing that!! my own has made me get in the game is i want to talk to her. oy.

I can usually drop the smilies and net-speak from my e-mails when it's important, even though that's not very often.

But I've also had the "pwnd/owned" conversation in real life. Also the O RLY, YA RLY, NO WAI conversation.

"We're having steak for dinner."
"O RLY?"
"..."
"Now you're supposed to say YA RLY."
"Huh?"
"Never mind."
"When did you start speaking English as a second language?"

OMG my 2 year olds at work can have that conversation even lol

Lol my parents play FFXI - now that Dads on Chemo he plays a lot - so they/we do Netspeak all the time.

Sometimes they tell me words as I dont play anything lately and they hear all the new fads before I do! Haha!
