Playing with ZBrush 3

Zbrush 3 arrived, and I've been spending time learning the new tools. Not that I had mastered the old tools, but hey...new tools! So here's a couple of odd things I wound up with, for your amusement.

Did a couple more odd characters, still just having fun with Zbrush 3

ChickenMan!

A Satyr...I guess!

A...gargoyle...something!

OMG make an Iksar model!!

That looks like so much fun, I would like to have time to learn zbrush.

Zoinks that red one is freaking me out! Renders in zbrush are impressive too - the texture looks so real. :thumbsup

I'm messing around with the 'gargoyle' one. I'm not sure I'm improving it, hehe, but I added a body, and started to texture the head. The body isn't textured at all yet. I think I don't like the eyes I did, maybe... anyway... it's a WIP! :D

As for making an iskar model, you could, but it wouldn't do the Poser people any good. These meshes you're looking at here have upwards of 1 million polygons. ZBrush can handle up to 1 billion. For Poser, you'd have to do a much lower resolution figure, and then use bump and displacement maps to try to get the surface details...kinda. For comparison, Vicky 4 has less than 80,000 polys. It's not enough polys to do like, lots of wrinkles and pits and stuff.

Anyway... ZBrush is fun, with a gigantic learning curve :)

Oh dear :( I was hoping you would be my scaly savior! LOL The work you are doing looks great so far, you have way more patience than me.

I did a background for him in VUE Infinite, and worked some more on all the textures for the armor and body and face, etc. *casts a fireball at him*

Now that's interesting - stand alone he looks very 3 dimensional but with scenery and props, he looks like claymation, very 2d. Post a screenshot of the UI though, Jan - I'd love to see what it looks like!

Yeh, he did kinda become less 3d as I went along, not sure exactly why. Just my bad editing, no doubt.

Rather than post a screenshot of ZBrush's interface though, how about a link to their little video? It shows better than a static screenshot could what the program looks like.

Go here: http://www.pixologic.com/home.php and play the trailer. :)
