Groundhog Day on crack meets the Shining is the way to describe this movie. It's a really good thriller, not a slice and dice horror flick. Throwing my recommendation to see it out there! 8-)

I read the short story last night and from what I can tell (and talked to my assistant who say the movie) - the book and movie are two different things. I will say that the book is straight up old school Stephen King. I read it in two sittings and the first sitting I only got to the part after he talks to Olin (Sam's character) and right before he goes in the room.

Jesus H Christ I had nightmares. I have no idea why but wow, 'Everything's Eventual' is a pretty slow book, not a lot of what his old short stories used to be (scary, thrilling, freaking you out) but 1408 redeems the book, that's for sure.

Finally saw the movie - scared the pickles out of me! I watched it on the plane home last night and kept having to cover my mouth from yelping. I really liked it - the short story seems to be completely different but overall nice ending.
