Surf's Up

Shia Lebouf, Jeff Bridges, Jon Heder and that Zooey girl from Hitchhikers Guide...

Thankfully they didn't show all the funny parts in the movie - in fact I'm glad they were vague with the plot. This was filmed in a type of reality show style that ended up being hilariously candid and seemingly unscripted. Jeff Bridges is great as Geek, this surfer beach guy that helps Cody find his surfing groove. Jon Heder steals the movie with his Chicken character. Without giving all the good parts away - the banter alone is worth seeing this movie. Shia and Jeff Bridges have some really really funny scenes together and it had me laughing out loud.

All in all it is a kid's movie - but there are some very clear and present Shrek moments where Catherine leaned over and asked me what was happening. I was laughing so hard I couldn't explain it to her and even if I could, I'd have to wait until she was about 13.

The cgi was stunning and at one point I caught myself thinking the water was real. Cute movie to take your kiddos to - adults only - definitely dvd.
