Running Away - a poem
(Patterned this after the One Big Happy comic from today, which ironically-funnily is something my own father did many years ago)
I'm going to run away, haha, away from all you freaks
I'll stay away for many months, and weeks upon endless weeks
With none of your stupid rules will I have to deal
As I prepare my own bacon cheddar broccoli peanut butter meal
Living the high life, watching cartoons on TV until noon
Eating icecream from the cardboard container with a plastic spoon!
But should I get into the practice of sleeping in til four-thirty
and I shall not start worrying if my shirts or pants are dirty
I won't even go to school, for I no longer need to learn
And for stinky textbooks and clouds of chalk I shall not yearn!
So I'm sayin' good by to all you unbending, strict fools
But I can't cross the street as I run away, because that's the rules.
