Sleeping Beauty by Anne Rice
I picked this up a couple weeks ago and cracked it open last night. I got about 30 pages into it and decided I should put it away before I had a conniption. I really don't like this book. I was like, 'oooh erotica, blim blam!' and then the overt sub/dom Prince opened his mouth.
It's mostly the Prince saving Beauty and then forcing her to walk around naked, enduring the looks of thousands of villagers and spankings by the Prince and little girls. She cries mostly and wonders if she's pleasing her prince. I guess this type of erotica doesn't suit me - maybe I'm just more into the whole Penthouse letters type of erotica, but I have no patience and little understanding of the appeal of Sub/Dom relationships. Which is to say there's anything wrong with it - definitely not what I'm saying. If it's your cup of tea (or crop swat) then that's all good.
I just personally didn't like it although tonight I'll skip to the last chapter in hopes that Beauty shoves a knife in the Prince's eye and runs away.
*spanks Roz and runs away*
it was waaaaay out there tho ;)
No shit! I read this series about 15-20 years ago, and was really surprised. At first I found them somewhat interesting, as they were the first of their kind that I had ever read. However, I found I grew bored, and disgusted with them shortly thereafter, because I'm not into BDSM either.
Guess it takes all kinds.
Death to the Prince!
at the end of the first book, Beauty gets into trouble and the Prince is forced to send her off to the village to be auctioned off... haven't read the other two yet - never seem to remember to check for them at the bookstore. this book reminded me of victorian erotica - which has alot of sub/dom in some of it. my ex-husband freaked when he realized what i was reading... was worth it just for that!
