Too funny - I just watched this last night, and slept through the first twenty minutes :P
Pretty predictable, but I still found it somewhat entertaining, and I liked the ending. I have to say I liked Disturbia much more (a friend compared the two saying they were about as good.)
As for the ass kicking, I have to believe for the most part the other victims were just too taken by surprise, and that threw them off their game.

I know I posted this somewhere but I can't find it. Sitting down to watch it now (quiet day at work) and the first 15-20 minutes are way too slow. You find out that there apparently was a loss of a child that has torn this couple apart and they're on their last trip together as a married couple when they have 'car problems' and are forced to stay at a seedy motel. Come to find out, this motel is the setting for snuff movies where the occupants are violently tortured and killed all the while being video taped.
It picks up after the terror starts, but it makes me wonder how these two bumbling idiot killers don't get their asses kicked. I know I'd spare no furniture throwing trying to beat some ass if someone was trying to kill me. =x
Blah ending but pretty bloody. Quite the eye opener in the morning lol.
